I have been a fan of Matthew Good Band since Underdogs was released in 1997, and I still am a fan of his despite the image of being an asshole, I actually find it funny. I was just curious how you rate the guy, the band and his albums/music?
The Last Of The Ghetto Astronauts(1995) - 3/5
Underdogs(1997) - 4.5/5
Beautiful Midnight(1999) - 5/5
Audio Of Being(2001) - 5/5
Now he's dropped the BAND from the name and the next album is just gonna be Matt Good. I saw him live in September here in Halifax and he played a few new tunes, most notably "Weapon", I suggest you check it out even if you don't know Matt Good's music.

Matt Good is a great artist despite (reportedly) being a huge asshole. I hope being without his band doesn't make his songs suck.
Underdogs - 7/10
Beautiful Midnight - 8/10
The Audio of Being - 10/10
As you can see, I find his albums getting progressively better. I haven't had a chance to hear The Last of the Ghetto Astronauts (damn small-town Nova Scotia), nor could I make it to Edgefest (damn cousin's wedding) but I like his music nonetheless.

He's a great singer/songwriter for sure, but threatening his fan with legal action if he didn't shut down his website didn't go over well with me. Why the hell did he get close to his fans in the first place?
Anyways, here's my ratings:
Ghetto 4/5
Raygun EP 3/5
Underdogs 4/5
Beautiful midnight 5/5
Audio of Being 5/5 > it's a shame they never toured to support it.
I heard Weapon and I'm not impressed at all.

Matt didnt quit the band, their guitarist did (forgot his name, never cared for him either, its also the second time he quits). His solo album will be produced by the MGB drummer.
I heard weapon and personnaly loved it. Now that Matt is solo we can expect alot of depressing songs and that's exactly what i loved from him. I'm not expecting any hard hitting songs a la "Load me up" on his solo album.
Ratings:
Ghetto: 4/5
Raygun 3/5 (Generation x-wing salvages this album)
Underdogs 5/5 (Classic Album)
Beautiful 5/5 (Giants: new anthem, from that point on every concert started with this song)
Loser Anthems: 3/5 (Flashdance and flight recorder: instant classics)
Audio Of Being 5/5 (Man of action would've been the new concert opening song)
The only regret i have is that they didnt tour for this album cuz it would've been awesome. MGB has been an all time fave for me and its sad to see em go
A couple years ago I was lucky enough to see MGB live from the first row p.o.v. and that concert made me a huge fan. BUT last year, Dave Genn (the guitarist) decided to leave and was then followed by Ian Browne (the drummer) and ever since then, I've hated Matthew Good. I don't like how he tells people to be original and have their own thoughts but then seconds later, he turns around and makes a video with impressionable messages printed all over them, such as The Future Is X-Rated and Weapon. Yet no matter what the deal, Born To Kill is still the best song ever and Underdogs is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

BUMP
I just got reminded of this thread by listening to The Audio Of Being again.
To those unfamiliar, check out Man Of Action, Truffle Pigs, Advertising On Police Cars and Under The Influence. Just do me that one simple favor...thanks.
