More pawn shop findings. Are they worth a pickup? I trying to be more selective and not just get everything I see but that plan usually falls through. Thoughts and reviews wanted!

THE INITIATION (1982)
OFFERINGS (1989)
KING KONG VS GODZILLA (1963)

King Kong vs. Godzilla is pretty much the type of film that you think it is. Camp, camp, and more camp! Its biggest flaw is its disastrous special effects. The blue screen effects, in particular, are just laughable. Plus, it's far too obvious that Kong is a guy in a suit. Godzilla's suit is relatively convincing, but you can't help but to feel sorry for Kong. If you enjoy tapping into the b-movie region of your brain, which I'm assuming that you do since you're considering buying this movie, then you'll have fun with it. It takes awhile to get to the "showdown," but it's well worth the wait! I've heard of the other two titles, but I know next to nothing about them.

Is Offerings the movie where these kids push the boy into the well and he comes back years later and takes revenge? For some reason that is the movie that I think of when I heard that title. Anyone else see this movie before? I just vaguely remember it. Anyway, I don't remember if it is good or not, but probably worth picking up.

I picked up The Initiation, the eighties slasher that takes place in a giant mall. I watched the first 20 minutes of it before falling asleep (not from the film it was like midnight) and realized I had seen this sometime before in my past. The heroine is Daphine Zuniga, better known as Princess Vespa from Spaceballs. I might review it when I watch it in its entirety. There is a good tense scene involving a mental hospital and a Burt Reynolds poster on the wall of their Sorority house. If I remember correctly it has an implausible twist ending tacked onto it.

Johnny Handsome – yes that is the correct film, I’ve probably seen it as well. I haven’t seen to many positive reviews for it though.
Countchocula - That match up of classic creatures sounds interesting I still might pick it up for some b-movie fun. Kong in a rubber suit doesn’t bother me one bit, I prefer it over some elaborate special effects.
Thanks for the feedback.

"The Initiation" is a fun maniac movie. The mall setting, which we unfortunately do not spend nearly enough time in, is simply awesome. The plot twist smelled a bit too much like "Happy Birthday to Me" but hey, since when do these generic slashers NOT copy off each other ?;)

Kong Vs. Godzilla was good, The first hour of it is kinda slow but it picks up at the end (and is worth the wait). The FX on the movie are pretty much complete shit, but in a good way, if that's possible. The movie should be taken as cheese, because if you come in looking for anything else you won't be happy. The only part that pissed me off was*SPOILERS*Godzilla losing to Kong, Damn!*END OF SPOILERS*

so overall this is a really good cheesy b monster movie. 7/10

The Initiation is a good but average slasher and the mall scenes happen very late to me.
If u want to see a very very good and entertainting slasher which has the same setting watch the very cheesy but very enjoyable Chopping ( Winorsky - 86 ).
It is very fun, never boring, good characters, too.
Great great slasher, one of my favorite !!!

GODZILLA VS. KING KONG ENDING INFO:

The ending of the Japanese version of this movie is different from the ending of the American version. ;)

*******SPOILER******* *******SPOILER*******
The American one Kong wins, the Japanese Zilla wins. The only difference is that one walks away into the sea, and the other doesn't. It's pretty funny, actually.
*****END OF SPOILER**********

Rock on!
