Vincent Price made a bunch of horror movies, of course, some of which have cult status (Theater of Blood comes to mind), but for some reason the two Dr. Phibes movies never come up any more. Is anyone else a fan of these deliciously campy revenge flicks? I'm not going to spoil in an initial post, but if you have a favorite aspect or moment I'd love you to share it.

Don't worry, there are still some of us out here that love these films. Price's work in the 60s and 70s with Corman and/or AIP are among my favorite "periods" in horror film history.

I LOVE the Phibes films. Too much fun!
THEATRE OF BLOOD was obviously influenced by PHIBES.
Vincent Price is the coolest.

I first saw these on TV not too long ago, I was curious about them for awhile but never got around to renting them. I'm not a Price fan, but I was surprised how much I ended up liking it. The kills were wild and very creative, and the first one got me anxious to see the sequel. I think the original is the stronger of the pair, both they are both well written and entertaining. One of the things I liked most about both of them, was that little mechanical band he had that played the music, I remember they were called Phibes' Clockwork Wizards. I like/appreciate little unique touches like that, funny little mechanical people.

Hell yeah! Vincent Price rules, I can't get enough of his flicks. For some reason ( shittin arse unaviability ) it's been too long ago for me to comment on the first Dr. Phibes movie but I dig the second one quite well.

Check out "The Witchfinder General" if you haven't already, it's one of Price's best performances and although quite different from his more "mainstream" works (no camp at all here) it's a very good movie.

Dr. Phibes is my favorite Price movie of all time. His little robotic band is just to cool. The sequel is almost as good as the original just a little bit cheesier.

I dislike this flat mode business because it is not clear to whom I am replying, and it makes me look dumb to appear at an arbitrary spot in my own thread, but:

Thanks for your posts. I did notice one problem with the two movies. Two different actresses portray the faithful Vulnavia. That's all right, but in the first movie she is disfigured by acid and in the second she is "re-incarnated" as a beautiful young woman without any explanation.
