View Full Version : Horror movies to take a look at:
Just wandered if anyone on here saw these and what your opinions of each are:
1.) Lurking Fear
2.) Subspecies 1-4
3.) Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight
4.) Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood
5.) Graveyard Shift
I didn't really have any problems with these except for Lurking Fear and Graveyard Shift. I thought both T.F.C movies and the Subspecies movies were cool. Here's the only problems I had with the other two:
Lurking Fear: the fact that it had nothing to do with the story written by H.P. Lovecraft (which I can kind of understand a little since the story was short), and that the story the people who made this movie wrote for it was boring and short. I must admit though Ashley Laurence is always a good actor for these kind of movies.
Graveyard Shift: the giant bat critter was hardly ever seen in the movie at all. It was only shown at the near end. And this story was kind of boring as well. But just to give this a little positive compliment the bat critter was a good idea. I just wish it was shown a little more often.

Of all the ones you posted there, I think that the most enjoyable is with out a doubt Demon Knight. That movie is solid entertainment! Great looking monsters and a cool cast make it a very cool and fun horror film!
The sequel Bordello of Blood though not as good, still managed to entertain me. I liked seeing Chris Sarandon again in a horror movie and I think that his performance is what made the film just a little more watchable. I also like Lilith the vampire, and some of the gore scenes where great like that scene where they slice Lilith in have with that cool looking ax and she just pulls herself back together, Id say the make up fx in this one were excellent. I also like the "ballroom blitz" scene in wich they kill all those vampire chicks, but I mainly liked that scene just because I love that song. I think Erika Eleniak, though beautiful did a horrible job her acting was sooooo stale! Barf!
The were supposed to make a third installment in the Tales from the crypt franchise but I guess it never happened, it would be cool to see another one.

1) Lurking Fear - bah F full moon and there crappy movies. They did nothing but butcher this story. I is one of Lovecrafts better and longer (hey it it is more than 5 pages ;) ) stories and full moon just turned it into crap.
2) Sub-species - They were ok years ago when I saw them, haven't watched on lately I remeber liking part 2 and 3 for some reason more than the first 1
3) Demon Knight - KICK ASS Movie, good, good fun!
4) Bordello of Blood - Ok, as others stated not as good as Demon Knight but I enjoyed it.
5) Graveyard Shift - my rating - "yeah, whatever, at least it's not a full moon movie"

I agree that Graveyard Shift's winged rodent needed more exposure. I also needed an explanation as to what in the hell the winged rodent was supposed to be! Lethargic film, but Divoff and Dourif steal the screen as always. It's common knowledge that Demon Knight kicks ass, so I'll just move on to Bordello of Blood. Somewhat underrated, but most of the comedy does fall flat. Without Dennis Miller, there wouldn't have been any laughs to behold. The gore is scrumptious, and so is Everhart. Out of the Subspecies series, I've only seen the second installment. Bleak atmosphere, cool vampire, anorexic storyline. I'll see the other Radu romps in due time. And I've only heard of Lurking Fear. Judging from everyone's opinion of it, that's probably the way it should stay.

Yes. Don't waste your time with watching the movie. It has nothing to do with the story that was written and it just plain sucks.
Why Full Moon did that I'll probably never know. I sure as hell am pissed at them for doing it.
