Aliens Question

This is something that I've always wondered about but thought I'd ask as I bought the Aliens Special Edition the other day. This film is bloody amazing. Best sequel eva!
Anyway the question I want to ask is this. On the cover is a picture of the alien and a weird appendage that appears to be growing outta his chin. This has always puzzled me.
Am I being stupid? Is this his tongue? Or his hand? Anyone?

The Queen Alien has two small arms in the front on her chest. I think that's what you see.

They even offer up explanations as to why the Queen has those two shorter arms that everyone here just mentioned.
