BEAT THE DEVIL (http://usa.bmwfilms.com/clap.asp?template=synopsis&country=usa&film=beatthedevil) Movie

My thoughts on the movie was... it was so out there i still have no clue on what to say. It's so weird, and so not Tony Scott. It barely even looks like a bmw film. Very odd indeed, no-where as cool as Ticker and Hostage in my opinion.

Thoughts/Reviews?

saying the film is strange is perhaps an understatement. i was not familiar w/ tony scott's name, but looking at his filmography, i'm defintitely familiar w/ a few of his films.

i really like the idea of the film: a singer who once sold his soul to the devil, finds himself aging and wants to pay the devil another visit to renogtiate the contract. but the way the film came out, just doesn't quite work for me. the previous bmw films did a good job of showcasing bmw's vehicle, while incorporating the driver (clive owen) into the story. in this one, clive owen seems like he's barely there, which isn't a knock on his acting, it's just that tony scott seemed to barely use him.

listening to the commentary did not really seem to help either. tony scott pointed a few things out, but it seemed as if he didn't really have a sense of what he was trying to accomplish either.

i definitely agree that this film was not as cool as either ticker or hostage. both of those films had a decent story line, clive owen involved in the story, and some kick ass action. this one lacked all three elements.
