I just finished viewing Hellraiser V and one word comes to mind: wow! Since it was a direct-to-video release I had not had any real interest in seeing it but since I had already seen the other four I gave it a shot. After the first four my expectations weren't exactly sky high.
Rundown of the previous entries in the series.
1. I thought the first one was an interesting movie and very original, especially for a horror movie. I did suffer from some iffy acting (most actors were quite ok though) and a seriosly bad ending with horrible special effects. But aside from that it was a solid movie.
2. Sequels are always worse, right? Well Hellraiser 2: Hellbound continued this tradition anyway. Esentially just a gore show with some bad special effects (not the gore but the other stuff, like the Channard cenobite). Kinda crappy movie imho, mostly due to the lack of any plot whatsoever.
3. Personally I thought that the third one actually improved the series a bit, even thoguh Pinhead got slightly over-exposed. I don't mind a lot of Pinhead but on the other hand it was also a bit dissapointing to see him turned into some Freddy Krueger wannabe. Also a minus were the incredibly shitty new cenobites, what the hell were they thinking? In conclusion: overall ok , but nothing stellar.
4. Pinhead in space? Bad idea, ok movie. Similar in tone to the third one but overall slightly worse. But it did include one of the best decapitation scene ever (chain through neck).
Which brings us to the fourth sequel. This one had it all imo, good acting, nice effects, good score and a solid story. And I also appreciate that they dared to make it different from the first four, not something horror sequels are known for. I don't really think there was anything wrong with this one, simply fantastic. That was my two cents, now let the flaming begin! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

ah,in that case its all gravy...yes,drago is a bad ass name haha....too bad his name cant be like his films.Atleast your not acting like him, like one person did with a clownhouse discussion...someone actually went through the trouble of getting a username on joblo of Tree (cheezo of clownhouse) and acted like him from the stuff they must have read about him.

Just my opinion, but I thought H: V was the worst sequel possible. I actually still haven't made it to the end of the film, and I'm a H. fan. It just came off as if they realized they had a bad cop film on their hands and threw in a side story about Pinhead to spice it up. When he finally shows up, he's dressed up as a cowboy???? oh brother! I hated four as well, no wonder it got an Alan Smithee director credit.

Well, it seems like most die-hard Hellraiser fans dislike the movie (probably due to the lack of Pinhead imo). I thought story worked mostly due to the fact that it felt more down to earth then the previous three sequels, the space part and the part actually in hell (H:4 and 2) just aren't very atmospheric imo.
I wonder what direction Hellseeker will take though...

Inferno is my favorite Hellraiser film. The plot is ambitious, the cinematography is beautiful, and it requires repeated viewings. I've never understood the complaint that Pinhead isn't in the limelight. Well, he wasn't the main focus of the original either. The chain of events revolved mainly around Frank & Julia (two characters I despise). I’m positive that fans didn’t want Pinhead to become a stand-up comedian, taking cues from Mr. Krueger. If anything, Inferno saved the franchise. We were one step away from seeing the cenobites resurrected by dog urine.

I think all the hellraiser movies are pretty good. Pinhead is the man, His monologues are hillarious I dont know why but they just are.

In my opinion, Doug Bradley saved the Hellraiser series. Without him Hellraiser 3 and 4 would both be unbearable, he just delivered the lines so perfectly (even the rather silly ones).

I thought the plot/general idea for "Inferno" was genius.....unfortunatly I thought the acting, directing, and pacing left much to be desired.
I really liked how Pinhead was handled though, and I liked the new Cenobites too.

well i will get down to point as quick as possible...im not the biggest fan of the Hellraiser series,i hated 4,and 1 and 2 were mediocre and pinhead himself saved it from being just another horror movie....the script was really good but not my kind for the genre. But like most sequels,5 was pretty mediocre, more story and an alright cast, but just mediocre. However it was enjoyable. On the subject of Hellseeker,i wish we were back in the 80's so this film could get in theatres easily...Dean Winters and Ashley Laurence in the same film with Pinhead is awesome,i love winters and laurence...i wish god and whoever else is available could grace us with a theatrical released hellraiser once more for us diehard fans who need a theatrical released hellraiser to pay us back for the horrible part 4,and for the new fans to see how the series is.IF marketed enough people would know who pinhead is and if not he would look good enough to view it.

It wasn't actually Pinhead dressed up as a cowboy, thoguh I think that the cowboy guy is the engineer and since Pinhead is revealed to be the engineer in the end...

i dont feel as if the Hellraiser series is all that. You have a FANTASTIC villin/hero in Pinhead. Some FANTASTIC bllod and guts in the first 2 flicks. (its all about the nut job and the razor blade!) but everything else in parts 1-4 were bland to me. The acting is weak. The storylines were too trepid for its own good. and the fact that no one outside of Barker can put a decent script together doesnt help either. I do like the series, but like the Chainsaw series, it leaves something to be desired.
that being said, I enjoyed part 5 on another level. I thought the idea was great.********SPOILERS********
I really liked the fact that this guy was hell the whole time. Sure it could have been more twisted but i liked how it all played out in the end. The pace was too slow and the directing was mediocre but this is a case where the story was able to rise above that and leave me with the feeling of watching a good movie. and the last 5 minutes were worth my time.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Haddonfield, he wasn't in hell the whole time. Throughout the whole film, he was slowly starting to. He didn't go to hell till he was pretty much ripped apart by the chains at the end (nice homage to the first).
***DRAGO, READ THIS PART, but everyone else who doesn't want it spoiled, don't read***
Drago, the cowboy wasn't the engineer. That priest psychiratrist was the engineer in disguise.

Inferno aint that bad.The hellraiser series needs to get a budget!Doug Bradly has bitched about this in every article i've read with him.
Miramax should invest 18 million and make Balls-out,to end all hellraiser movies, instead of giving us a 2 million DTV.
Inferno had a decent story.5050 result, and I think the new Cinobites were cool.
What the hell happened to Craig Sheffer?
