I don't think there is really a way to choose. I mean, obviously all of these things added humor, or layers to the book (deathday party, valentines day, peeves...all wonderful), but they were "side" stories that did not leave the dreaded word "plotholes" in the flick. So (sigh) I guess I can forgive Colombus for not having

"Oh Potter you rotter
Oh what have you done?
You're killing off students
You think it's good fun"

The Deathday party. One of my fave parts of the book.

SPOILERS------

BTW, I voted for the lack of Penelope Clearwater. I thought it was very funny in the book and it also added a mystery layer. Why was Percy down in the dungeon? And it made Ginny not tell Harry and Ron 'bout the diary because Percy thought she was talking about him and shooed her away from the breakfast table, but I think Penelope will be expanded on the DVD because she was cast, but her only scene was her Chris Rankin, and John Cleese. I highly doubt it...

Mine would have to be that there was no fight between Lucius Malfoy and Arthur Weasley in Flourish and Blotts! They just made fun of eachother! And another thing, I would have loved some of the dialouge from the book that made it so funny....

Snape: I suggest, Headmaster, that Potter is not being entirely truthful. It might be a good idea if he were deprived of certain privileges until he is ready to tell the full story. I personally feel that he should be taken off the Gryffindor Quidditch team until he is ready to be honest.
McGonagall: Really, Severus, I see no reason to stop the boy playing Quidditch. This cat wasn't hit over the head with a broomstick...

I'd havr to say the scene at the end where Ginny is let off and Lockhart is dealt with - in the film Harry and Ron acted like they were in trouble - why?

Also worst addition to the film has to be the ending. Why was Hagrid a hero?? Why!!!

Anyway fantastic film (saw it again yesterday) but having just read the book again I realise how many little details there were to make the plot clearer that they couldn't use in the film.

I'm glad they didn't have the deathday party though because it would have been quite slow and boring IMO and they covered up how Harry found Mrs Norris well so you never noticed it was gone.

Kwikspell is a learn-magic-by-mail course that Filch is taking. He is a squib(someone born to a pureblood family with no magical powers).

And I find the notion of Percy "Smarty-Pants, Goody Two-Shoes" Weasley having a girlfriend very funny.

Well I just saw Harry Potter last night. I must say there are a lot of differences between the movie of the book. I was really dissapointed that there was not as much scenes with Gilderoy Lockhart, Colin Creevy, or Nearly Headless Nick. Also, the girl from Ravenclaw was not petrified. I was also looking forward to seeing the Weasleys and the gnomes.

The winner is THE DEATHDAY PARTY.

Also the de-gnoming scene in the Weasley's yard would have been humorous to see. Even though it doesn't further the plot and I can see why it was left out, it still would have been cool to see.
