DEMONS
Think 80's European horror, with a girl who looks like Kristy MacNicol. She gets tickets to a theatre playing NOSTRADAMUS, which is a movie about demons. The demons infect the audience.
Other character: Token cute white guy who rides motorcycles to the theme song from POWER RANGERS, chopping demons.
A caring pimp who treats his Hos to a movie. He's really funny! And likeable.
His ho's, one turns into a demon first.
The strangest characters are the blind guys niece who goes to the theatre and gets laid, and punks who look like rejects from Return of the Living Dead who insist on going to the theatre.
True cheese with a rock soundtrack. Sublime and funny.
I haven't seen Demons 2 But the pimp is a body builder in it!

Demons is a big thumbs up classic cheese in my book.

they're both alright they're typical italian horror, they're filled with bad acting, bad dialogue, but make up tih it in the gore department. the first one is pretty good, while the second just starts to wear think after awile.

Oh c'mon izombie! DEMONS 2 is ultimate 80's Italian cheese-chic! The clothes, the synth-noveau pop, the cars, hell even the demons had style!
I love this movie!
And how can you NOT love flying demon-monster baby?? c'mon, flying demon-monster baby???

BOth very good movies I bought the first one but I cant find the second for sell only rent.
The first one took place in a creepy ass movie theater( one of the scariest horror sets in horror movies to me).
The second in a apartment building during a birthday party. I love the scene where the demons comes out the TV.
like Lady said the pimp turns body builder in this one.

cool thanks. im gonna watch part 1 2nite. weird thing is on both my dvds cases it says comentary by Bava but neither of the disc have 1. they do both have little clips with interviews with argento tho. annother weird thing is demons 2 say part of a program called night shift onit but it just stops after 10 mins at a really weird point. oh well.

I've only seen the first one and it was really awful. I like bad horror movies as much as the next guy, I like watching movies that are so bad they're entertaining and have sat through some really boring bad stuff, but I had a hard time sitting through it. Just about everything about the movie was inept- direction, acting, story, dialogue and not even in an amusing way. Some okay effects, if you don't mind eighties cheese, and the bit with the motor cylce and the sword was kind of cool but that's about it.

The 1st Demons is a kick-ass cheese fest from 1986 when horror was not the watered- down shit it is today.
The 1st one is a no-holds -barred gorefest set in a creepy-assed movie theater, where people get torn apart and ripped to shreds!!
The Pimp is the best of all the ill-fated charactars in the entire movie!
As for the 2nd? Its like most sequels in the 80's: it sucks ass.
But in a chessy way!

Demons 2 was fairly good I think.
I like the music a lot in this - one.
It was all about New Wave and I like the 80's period a lot !!!!
The film is very gory and you have a film within the film if I remember !!!

I'm fond of the original Demons for its excessive gore, amazing lighting, and the irresistible cheesy vibe it gives off. Everything else is sloppy. The plot holes are so enormous that they almost manage to blur the basic storyline. There are too many curveballs thrown at the viewer. The helicopter? The guy in the mask? The suspicious usher? It's all hieroglyphics to me. I haven’t had a chance to check out the sequel yet, but I gather that I’m not missing much.

Jewbo, my friend, Demons scared the living piss out of me when I was about 11 years old. I thought that it was soooo scary that I would go to bed at night for about 2 weeks after I saw it and would put the cover over my head totally, even though it was summer and hotter than shit, to hide me from the demons! I would wake up with really bad nightmares from the movie! I avoided seeing it again for years, but always thought of it as a scary ass movie...
Then about 6 years ago my ex fiancee and I rented it. SHe hated it and laughed at parts of it! I'll admit that it is nowhere near as scary as I remembered it, but it is still an excellent movie! I got it for my birthday last year and hae watched it several times. I think the first one rules! The second one is ok, but the first one is a classic. Be sure to watch after the credits for a surprise!

With the right surround sound receiver setup in DD 5.1 both of them show why they are classics.
They are both over the top cheesefests with no regard for traditional filmmaking elements, but the sense of frenetic energy and unforgettable dreadful acting give them an undeniable charm all their own.(the pregnant women in part 2 actually seemed like she did have some talent,as did the man who played her husband,or whatever he was)
Not too mention the liberal use of gore fx.I steer more towards number 2,there was something creepier about being stuck in a high rise as opposed to a movie theater.
Who can get enough of the Black guy, just hilarious in both films, but i got a kick out of how fast he took control, and how decisive he was when all hell broke loose.Just wish he played a more prominent role.
The music, the acting, the dubbing, the cinematography(look at that scene in the ventilation shaft in part 1),the set design, the lighting, the lack of logic(the helicopter, don't want to spoil it),the somewhat incoherent narrative, the use of colors, demon kids, cheesy dialogue, terrific gore fx,and one of the best endings in a horror film ever(Demons 1),you just can't go wrong with these 2 films, they still entertain me 17 years later. Also like the scene with the elevator, suspenseful stuff. And the scene in the parking garage, great zombie/demon action.
Check out Asia Argento in Demons 2,she's the little girl watching tv in her apartment.

I didn't say I didn't like it I just don't think it was as good as the original.
And for the record I grew up during the 80's I can relate to all that stuff http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

I've commented on Demons in past threads, I will go ahead anyway and say I'm not a fan of either. I saw Demons 2 before the original because I couldn't find the original. It was ok, I had been wanting to see the original for awhile and when I finally found it for rent there was some good transformation scenes and abundance of gore but not much else. One of the biggest disappointments ever. And what's with all these pseudo sequels, they go up to at least 6 as far as I know, I haven't really bothered to check for exact numbers.

Jewbo, did you get the Anchor Bay region 1 dvd?Because those versions are excellent, they never looked or sounded better.I've heard certain sounds that i never knew were there before as a result of the 5.1 transfer, and there are some cool bass effects too.The video is just terrific,it really brings out the colors, and showcases the set design and gore.

I wish Argento and lamberto Bava would make the real Demons 3.
Its been like 15 years since 1 & 2,and with all sorts of sequels popping up,i think a #3
would be be a good idea.

Another Demons film would be excellent,so lond as they maintain the same irreverent spirit of the originals, and not Buffy the Vampire Slayer it like so much of the recent Scream,Jeepers creepers, and Valentine's day offerings.
No flavor of the month hollywood sexpots,no sense of logic, bad dubbing, fantastical situations, over the top gore, maybe some goblin music, lamberto bava as director, filmed in Europe(not some Hollywood sound stage, and pump up the action some more.
Then you have a worthy follow up that honors it's roots.
Oh yeah,Jewbo,i would recommend you buy an all code dvd palyer with a built in standards converter,so you can watch Region 1 dvd's.You're missing out on some great films with terrific audio and video transfers.Especially the ones by Anchor Bay.
