I know this sounds ridiculous but I actually was pretty creeped out by this movie even though I LOVED it. I haven't seen the Extended Edition yet, but I hope to soon. I thought this movie had some very tense scenes in it (including those guys on the black horses who continued to stalk and even attack those poor hobbits and those freaky orks and their cave troll). Also that large dragon-like thing and most of the atmosphere in the movie (sorry I haven't read the books so I don't know what most of these things are called.) Does anyone else here share my opinion?

didnt think it was scary, but definetly had some intense moments.

i read the book after seeing it, it only makes the movie a better experience in my opinion. read the hobbit(to get bilbo's story), then the fellowship and watch the movie again. everything will make sence then, before there were a couple things i didnt get. like why did the eagle save gandalf? its explained throughout the hobbit and the fellowship.

one thing i didnt like, too much singing. they just sing too much in the books. but i still enjoyed them alot. havent read the other 2 in the trilogy yet, but i definetly plan on it.

i htought the extended edition was great, you learn more about the hobbits lives and just little things are explained more. but i still think to truely understand everything that happens in the movie, you ahve to read the hobbit and the fellowship. everything came together for me when i did.

The books had the abilty to really grip my ass by the throat. The movie didnt bring the same fear but did bring in a tad bit of creepiness.

The scene in the books where the orcs are launching human heads from catapaults into the city for fear tactics seriously gave me nightmares.

Nah, didn't really creep me out any. The movie did inspire me to read the books though. Which took me a long time since I am not much of a reader. Everything was great in the books up until the end, which I disliked.

The scene with Sauron at the beginning was pretty freaky. Jackson really did a good job at adding that intensity. The Balrog was just too cool to be scary, IMO.

LOTR was a great movie cause i'm into that sort of thing. I was to stuned by the coolness of the moive to be creeped out. I was to busy thinking thinks like "damn them RingWraiths look cool" and the Balrog was immense. Sauron was one of my favourites hes portrayed as fear incarnite and hes so powerful. Didn't creep me out.

It would help if you gave your age. If you're between 12 -14, I guess there is some creepy and intense stuff there to scare ya some.
If you're passed that age and got scared.... well. I sure hope you're not over 18 and frightened.:D

The only bit that scared me was when Bilbo's asking Frodo for the ring and changes. That was a bit unexpected, heh - guess I should have read the book.

Apart from that it didn't scare me much at all.

I wasn't scared but felt a range of emotions thru-out the film. The two 11yr olds I took jumped quite a bit and held their ears when the ringwraiths screeched, but they wouldn't admit they were scared.
I bought the book that has all three novels together, but haven't started reading it yet.

read the hobbit first, get bilbo's back story. things make more sence in the fellowship that way.

the hobbit's a fun ride, i really enjoyed it.

Well maybe SCARED wasn't the right word, but creepy would've been better. I have read some of the books, which were pretty good (I need to read them all!) and I guess at the time I was pretty scared, but now, after seeing the extended edition, it doesn't really scare me anymore (I guess it just happened when I saw it in my cousin's awesome movie theatre, the sound could be heard from miles away!) This movie rocks and I can't wait to see the 2nd one at 12:01 a.m. the day it is released (just kidding, but my bro's friends are giving out free tickets for a private screening at this time, I might get some.) I'm 15 by the way (beginning to feel embarrassed) and I just wanted to make that clear that I wasn't scared (I don't think I've ever been truly scared at a film.

I wasnt scared, not creeped out, and not intrested in the whole movie. I couldnt get into it and I was bored all the way through. Not my kind of movie, I dont like fantasy.

I do like fantasy, and LOTR still bored the living fuck out of me. When I saw it in the theater it was a late showing, so I thought maybe it was just because I was really tired. But then I watched it again when a friend of mine bought the dvd, and it had the same effect on me. I don't know what it is... you can take any random 10 minute segment from the movie, and it will seem spectacular, and everything certainly looks spectacular, but as a whole it just seemed to go on and on and on and on. I remember the first time I saw it, there's a scene where an ogre keeps getting shot with arrows, and he keeps getting up for more and I was thinking, "JUST FUCKING DIE ALREADY SO I CAN GO HOME AND GO TO BED!"

Yes, me and my friend couldn't stop laughing that that arrow scene, I mean we were like curled up on the floor laughing, after like the 2nd time he got up and went down again we jokingly said "watch him get up again" sure enough he jumped back up, so we had a good laugh, even though everyone was staring at us.
