I think the most powerful might be one of the "cosmic" types from the Marvel universe. I remember having a very serious debate about this with my friends when I was about 11 or 12. I think we concluded that The Living Tribunal was the most powerful. Other possibilities include the Elders of the Universe(did I get that right?), Celestials, and Phoenix off the top of my head.

I've just been checking around, and it seems general consensus on alot of comic websites is that The Living Tribunal is probably the most powerful character in comics. His job is to make sure that good and evil are in balance in the multiverse, or something like that. He can essentially do anything, and is second only in power to his master "The One Above All", who is more powerful, but is not a really a character, so shouldn't be included I suppose. Sorry, Jean;)

Even though I love Garth Ennis, I never did start reading Preacher. I plan to get the tpbs, but expenses are making it slow to catch up on my reading. I have an idea of who the Saint of Killers is, but that's about it. He's a cowboy type that is some sort of avenging angel or something along those lines?

If you are an Ennis fan you'll want to check out the Preacher series. And saint of killers is more than just a mere angel, or actually it's who he kills and what he does which makes me think he's the most powerful.

Well, they're powerful, that's for sure, and I think the Surfer is a contender for Most Powerful Ever. But Spidey...don't get me wrong, I do love him very much, but Superman or even Batman could whip his butt. I still think Jean Grey as the Dark Phoenix is the most powerful comic character ever.

He has the combined powers of Professor X and Magneto, something like that. He must be pretty damn powerful.
