I really don't get why people keep putting this movie down! I rented it 4 times and then bought the damn thing cuz I couldn't get enough of it.

There are 2 ways you can view this film.

1: (comparing it to the originals: When you compare JGTH to the origignals it kinda sucks cuz it doesn't stay true to the other movies in the series. Still there's no denying that the murders and acting are good.
That's why i feel most friday fans seem lket down by it.

2: (looking at it like your 1st friday film): The first time I saw a horror movie was JGTH and I was hooked on the genre. It has a great story (again if you don't compare it to the older ones) and it has great murders and the acting is good. Also the musical score is great.

It just depends on how you watch it.

I agree, The Rob. "Jason Goes to Hell" is a great bad movie. As a sequel it's pretty lame, but as a movie unto itself it's entertaining in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

I totally agree... as a sequal it SUCKED... but it was a great movie if you see it as its own.. not as a sequal

This movie has the same problem as HALLOWEEN 3. As a movie in its own right, it's quite good, but because it strayed from the other friday sequels most people rebel against it just like they do against halloween 3 cos that didn't follow the mike myers storyline. This one had jason skipping bodies which he doesn't do and, for a lot of the movie he isn't in it - mike isn't in halloween 3 at all - similarities? I think so.

i totally agree with morgan. why did jason have to blow up in the first 10 minutes? Well i guess every series has atleast one bad movie.

I do have to say that I really liked this film, and Halloween 3.
Reasons:
#1. NO JASON OR MICHEAL-We all need a break.

#2. THESE FILMS HELD THEIR OWN-These 2 films were great by themselves. I actually think that they helped the series instead of hinder them. I find them to be the two most interesting films in both of the series. Also, I see JGTH as more of a black comedy than a true horror film.

Rocky, there are a lot of bad films in the Friday the 13th series /ubb/smile.gif

As for Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, it's decent. Definitely in the upper half of the series in terms of quality. It definitely has the best character development in the series, and the nudity doesn't hurt, either.

I liked "Halloween III" because it seems to fit in with the "world" established in the first two. The Evil the transformed Michael Meyers into the boogeyman - or The Shape - is the same evil, still alive and well. It's just taken on a new guise ... and is using some different tools to work its agenda.

Granted, it gets rrreeeaaallll goofy at the end, but I like it better than any of the sequels that followed it.

NIGHTWATCHMAN -
Good point dude. I think that's what they were trying to do. No matter what year, Halloween has some evil elements, whether it's mike or some dude trying to kill the kids, it never stops working. I always get a liitle spooked out around halloween - the atmosphere is just present!

I love Halloween just for that reason. /ubb/smile.gif

I foolheartedly (hehe big word...) agree. If it wasn't for the fact that it's a sequal to f13th, I would like it, and I plan to view it like that next time I watch it...

I agree. JGTH isn't really a bad flick. You just cant compare it to all the other Friday movies. I feel that you have to watch it as a movie in its own right. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

ANTBond007, why do you continue to diss Friday the 13th movies??? Friday the 13th movies were a hell of a lot better than Halloween IMO. The Halloween series had only two good movies, the first two. Friday the 13th movies were all great except #8 and #7.

To say that on its own its a great movie and not to compare it to the other 8 that came before is crap! it is a Friday The 13th movie is it not!?! It is the 9th one! so unless it was called something different and didnt have Jason in it for 10 minutes than I wouldnt compare it to Friday The 13th! But It IS Friday The 13th!!! Same reason I compare Halloween 3 to the rest, because it is a Halloween movie! Had it been called Season Of The Witch then I wouldnt compare it to a Halloween movie. WHy say it works on its own when its a part of the bigger picture??

As far as the movie goes, Im not a big fan of it for one reason.... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Changing Jason into a Lizard (WTF!?) who must kill the last blood relative he has (WTF!?) but keeps having to change bodies (WTF!?) is laughable. Who greenlighted this idea??? Thats like saying Michael Myers is really ruled by a curse called Thorn and evil doctors want to try and control him!! oh wait...forget that one...

If Jason was IN THIS MOVIE i would like it. The unrated version has some cool kills but thats all the positive talk i can give this turkey of a flick. And for all the above reasons is why I hate part 5 too!!!! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yes, Jason Goes to Hell is severely misunderstood. You need to forget about storyline continuity, and just cherish the precious moments of gratuitous nudity and bloodshed. As unpopular as this opinion is, it’s my favorite in the entire series.

The reason I didn't like Halloween 3 is because it's execution was poor.

Yeah you can watch it two ways......but either way IT SUCKS!

As a sequel it sucks, and as a stand-alone movie it sucks because it`s like "The Hidden" mixed with a latter "Halloween" sequel (only a Voorhees can kill him, etc.)
Plus the ending sucks, plus the music sounds like it was done on a 1986 Casio keyboard, plus Jason looks totally goofy (his entire head is obviously a latex mask).

No offense to you guys personally or anything....I just REALLY think this movie sucks! I like all the other "Friday"s though.

It's a good movie, at least i though so, i would always say part 9 sucked, but after checking it out again, its not that bad.

Ya know ,This film isn't leaden or anything like that, quite the opposite actually as the gore/nudity quotient is amazingly high when juxtapositioned to that allowed by the MPPA in entries 7 & 8. So I can see where it has it's supporters, sadly I'm just not of them. Props to people who are though, for sharing and holding opinions that may differ from the general consensus http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif.

Okay, would someone explain what Jason really is? A demon? A mutant? An alien? What???

teenkiller
05-19-2002, 02:02 AM
It depends which movie you're talkin bout. In parts 2-4 he's a human but in parts 6-8 he's a zombie. In part 9 he suddenly becomes an evil force who body hops. But then in X he goes back to zombie with slightly more human behavior than he had before. It's confusing but he's never really the same for too long. There is no real explanation for what he is. Hope that helps a little. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I was specifically referring to his Jason Goes to Hell incarnation. What is that thing supposed to be?

Cyclonous - I don`t think the screenwriters even knew for sure.

I love Jason Goes To Hell, it's the first Friday film I saw and one of the best. Gore galore and T&A galore, loved it!

JASON GOES TO HELL
SPOILERS if ur late

Positive
1 Jason dies in the opening credits like a pretty chick or a victim would be killed by him before the credit rolls Ex Alice Part2
or Tommy's friend Part 6 and any other horror with the so called Psycho like opening murder scene.
2 Jason slams a woman's head ina car door
Almost as cool as the chick slammed against the tree in 7
3 Freddy's glove makes an appearance

NEGATIVES
1 Jason has a sister all of a sudden thats been living in Crystal Lake and he decided to let out live all the other people in town Yeah right
2 Jason's neice could give a rats ass if her mother was killed when she comes to Crystal Lake with Jason's little cousin. She was too emotionless and should have died.
3 Jason's neice's babysitter the tough waitress at the diner was killed and should have survived instead of fake emotionless Stephanie whatever her name was.
