Seriously, I mean sure we gripe at how much time we've wasted watching a bad movie, but boy does it help conversation. I must say it is much more fun talking about a shitty film than a great one. In turn, I kind of end up enjoying the films I hate...well not so much to that degree but enough so that I won't stop watching bad movies. Yes I watched Not Another Teen Movie, yes I watched BOG and I will continue to tell people how much they suck, yet I will probably watch the first one again if it's on, just to revisit the stupidity and tell someone "Hey, I watched that movie again, and I realised something...it's a love/hate relationship." I love to hate bad movies, and I love to watch bad movies for the sheer enjoyment of bashing them afterwards. Kudos Hollywood for feeding our minds trash, without you I'd have to watch Jerry Springer, and that's just a tad too far off the deep end if you ask me.

The world needs crappy movies.

I have developed a fondness for:
THE MANGLER
GRAVEYARD SHIFT
TCM 2,3, and 4
and many other awful films.

Its not just Hollywood who spoonfeeds us crap, have you seen some low-budget horrors?

As a horror fan I have to trog through absolute shit to get to any good ones. The shitty films deserve love too.

we also need shitty films because if all were great then the people who rate movies would look like fools giving every movie ***** so then they would resort to pushing other great movies down to balance the list and then we might end up having something like Shawshank, american beauty, pulp fiction, or any other great movie getting *. 1 FRICKING STAR MAN!!!!!!!!!

Bad movies are good, good movies are bad, and somewhere in between I am!

I need to watch a bad movie every now and then, it helps with my own creativity.

A good movie inspires me to be great, a bad movie inspires me to be greater! :D

it's true. without bad films, we would look stupid giving every movie a very good rating.

Bad movies are so fun to rip on. Plus their glorious stupidity can be extremely entertaining. Besides, how would we be able to tell a good movie from a bad one if all movies were good? It's like being happy all the time. How would you even know you're happy when you're never sad?

I think bad movies make good movies much more powerful because the good movies stand out. There's always a need for contrast.

Yeah, sure!

Bad movies are indeed a necessity, but too much of them can be disturbing and painful. I once watched all the Police Academy movies every evening from monday to sunday...

After that I felt sick. Lately I'm trying only to watch criticially acclaimed movies, because I can't stand empty, superficial movies anymore. I guess movies like "Men in Black II" and "Showtime" really killed my notion of "enjoying" a really bad movie.

I think most importantly bad movies can help you appreciate a good movie even more. How would you ever know a movie was good if you never saw a bad film?

I think Tim Curry said it best in "Legend": "What is light without the daaaaark?"

One man's 'shit' is another man's (or woman's) 'masterpiece', right?

I am a horror fan by heart. I grew up with it. I like a lot of bad horror movies. I'm sure most people would HATE about half the horror movies I like.

I hate "Fast and the Furious", "Pearl Harbor", "Armageddon", "The Rock", "Independence Day". These IMO are bad movies. I would never own a copy of these movies, but they still sell. So there are people out there who consider these to be a 'masterpiece'.

To each his (or her) own, I guess.

So yes, bad movies ARE necessary.

Oh, and "Bad Boys" is Micheal Bay's "Masterpiece".

If every movie was great then guys like Joblo would be out of a job. We wouldn't need people to tell us if a movie was good or not because we would already know. Also, two-thirds of the actors of the actors and directors in hollywood be out of a job, because lord knows that two-thirds of them suck.

I agree.
Without bad movies, we'd have nothing to compare the great movies to.
