View Full Version : The movie you have seen the most times...

I am curious to hear what movies you guys have seen the most. There are so many I've seen dozens of times, but three stick out for me as The Grand Poo-Bahs:
Aliens - Three times in theater (a first), watched it almost every day with my babysitter for at least 3 months when it first came on video, wore out the tape. Watched it at LEAST 5 times a week for 9 months after I got a new tape, wore out that tape. Bought a NEW tape, watched that one at least 50 times. Then bought Director's Cut on VHS, about 30 viewings. Got the DVD and have seen it at least 12 times since I got it 4 years ago. I can quote every line forwards and backwards. It's really sad (it's "paranoid delusion." ok bad quote).
This is not a joke, and I'm not exagerating: I'd say about 400-500 times. I am one of the saddest people on Earth. I will admit it.
Star Wars - well, I was really young, when we first got a Betamax and then a VHS player, this was one of our only purchases. From then to now, 200+ times.
Army of Darkness - Although my heart is a little more set on loving "Evil Dead 2" more than this one, AoD is only 1hr20min, which made me able to watch it at least 100 times. Easy, quick, guilty pleasure. It's on, it ends, I move on with my day.
Honorable Mentions: "Evil Dead 2", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Jaws", "The Princess Bride", "American Psycho", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"... I don't know, after that I think it gets too hazy for comparison...
OK, your turn. :D

Well, at theaters, I saw Signs and American Pie 2 three times each. In fact, I saw Signs opening night, the next night and the night after that, 3 nights in a row.
For video, it'd be Dumb & Dumber. I've seen it so many times I lost count. I know i've seen it well over 300 times though. When it came out on video, I watched it everyday that entire summer. That was clear back in 1995, so this is 7 years later and I still average a viewing of it at least 3 times a month. Its my all time favorite movie, I never get tired of it.

I don't know about me, but I have a friend who has made a personal ritual out of watching The Crow every single day since it's release on videocassette. That would be sometime in late '93, early '94, correct? So if my estimations are correct, and this is no joke, he has seen The Crow approximately 3,000 times, give or take.

I've seen David Lynch's "Dune" more times than I can count. I wore out my first video copy. I once watched it every day for a year - not always watching it, just putting it in the VCR and doing housework or puttering while listening to it. I can recite most of the script.
Aside from that..."Star Wars", I suppose. And "Swingers".

Let's see when I was younger I was OBSESSED w/ "Edward Scissorhands." In my opinion this is still an enjoyable film.
Then there was "Scream." I watched this video so many times it wouldn't play during certain scenes and I was forced to buy another. I, instead, bought the DVD. Actually I bought the Collector's Series box set with the entire collection. :)
Next, "Say Anything." I was a tad bit late watching this one. (Considering it was released in 1989 and I watched it for the first time this July.) But immediately after I viewed it I bought it. I love it.
There are many more (I have DirecTV so the same movies are repeated about . . . hmmm . . . 1,000 TIMES A DAY) but I'd rather not type out all the titles. :)

In theatres, I saw Almost Famous four times; Big and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, three. And then there's Rocky Horror (who knows?).
Videos in perpetual rotation over the years:
Clue
Soapdish
Some Kind of Wonderful
Summer of Sam
Dazed and Confused
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
I can also say I've seen Star Wars only once (the Special Edition, while in theatres). What's the big deal with this movie? I gave it a 5/10.
And who hasn't seen '80s classics The Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, Die Hard, Footloose and Vacation a million times?

The Other

Not sure... I've seen American Beauty quite a lot.
I've seen Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone a lot too. Mostly because it's been on either of the 4 HBO channels almost every day and I usually just keep it on or just watch it.
When I first got Beauty and the Beast on DVD I watched it a few days in a row. The best animated film.
Beetlejuice was played a lot on Encore and Flix a few months ago. As was Forrest Gump on the HBO channels. Right now I keep catching Look Who's Talking on the Showtime channels.
These movie channels just pick one film and they play the shit out of them.

I've seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles 18 times. I would hate to end up hating this movie by watching it every other day or whatever, so I probably watch it 2-3 times a year. I got hooked on it when I was about 9.
