Im sorry but this does not look very good. I mean the story's core is kind of nice, but after you watch the trailer you will understand why it does not look good. I really hate when they try to appeal to a certain demographic by including degrading things such as that 'style' of cheerleading in that movie.

I saw the trailer on tv. Pretty weak. I do like Orlando Jones though, I hope he moves on to better things.

Yeah he is an interesting guy, he should act in better movies than this...

*BASH* *BASH* *BASH*
Ah... that feels a little better.
One of the worst premises I have heard of in quite a while. It's very pathetic, actually. At least "Bring it On" had scantly clad girls in it for some eye candy. This one has spinning drumsticks and big drums strapped on backs in the rain...
No thank you.

Sorry guys, I got a bit out of hand with my comments. I just get very "pissed" when people comment on movies when they haven't seen them yet. I didn't men to disrespect any of you... Just saying my feelings...
And on another note, I DO think this film looks like fun...

You're right, that you obviously can't fully judge a movie until it is seen, but trailers are made to give you a taste of what's to come. This was a taste I didn't care for at all. What's wrong with that?

I can understand your viewpoint but something is JUST TELLING ME that it wont win BEST PICTURE. THE CHANCES ARE that movies such as these are very formulaic, therefore allowing for criticism before release. That is my viewpoint for movies like these, and it doesn't usually falter, I'll tell you that. It sounds ignorant, but after seeing so many trailers for movies like these and then SEEING them upon release, they really do SUCK. Well I will post under current movies when it comes out if you please...
If I am wrong, I am wrong. But it is still fun to bash these movies! :P -- even after their release

I'll definitely see this. Good or bad, being a drummer myself I'll probably appreciate it either way

Personally, I think the film looks very funny. Orlando Jones is one of my favourite comedic actors. And I, for some strange reason, enjoy films with plots revolving around music from Amadeus to That Thing You Do. Plus, I find it odd to "bash" a film premature to its release.

Being in a Marching Band, I like the idea of a MB movie, but not a comedy. They could make a very good film about marching bands, competitions in a serious matter, like Any Given Sunday.

I already saw Drumline in an advanced test screening back in May. It's not as bad as some of the bashing it's getting, but it's not very good either; very fogetable. Also, don't let the trailers fool you, this really isn't a comedy at all. It's pretty much just a straight drama with a few moments of comic relief. Orlando Jones isn't playing a comedic role at all, rather a very straight and dramatic one.
Wait for video.

You guys are brutal! Being a dancer, and a supporter of HBCU's band competitions I will definitely go see this movie. These college kids put a lot of time and effort in these competitions. Its like anything else.. track, cheerleading, football... Its just a bunch of horny, talented kids being creative and showing off their skills.
What's so bad about making a movie about that?

The bad part is that the film doesn't look very good. Like Bryce said, he is ina band and would like to see a film that will do the subject justice.

I saw the trailer for this, and let me just say me and my friends have never laughed harder at such a stupid looking movie. I can only remember some of the lines and scenes since I couldn't pay attention that much. One was a tense scene of the kid claiming "yo, I'm the best drummer you got!" - Um, I'm sorry but how much talent can one display on one snare drum? Add a full double bass drumset and then you can argue on different skill levels of drummers. Also, there is one scene where the main star and the antagonist appear to have some sort of Kung-Fu sword fight with drumsticks?!? Words cannot express how stupid this looked.
Well, I felt cheated for wasting a minute of my life watching the trailer, so I cannot fathom someone actually paying good money to see the whole thing. I would watch Extreme OPS and Half Past Dead back to back Clockwork Orange style than sit though this.

You think this actually looks good? It looks like a cheap rip off of both Bring It On and Save the Last Dance. Complete crap that WILL tank at the box office amidst films such as Star Trek: Nemesis, The Two Towers, and Gangs of New York.

To me, the thing that turned me off about the film is not the uninteresting plot, the unfunny jokes in the trailer, or the fact that the lead actor really reminds me of Usher--its the fact that on a poster of it that I saw at a movie theater, the first thing I noticed is that in big yellow letters on the top it says "With a Soundtrack Featuring Music From..." and then proceeded to list out at least 10 people from the soundtrack. That is not an advertisement for a movie--it's an ad for a CD. If that's what they're trying to sell with the movie, why not just buy the CD and skip the movie? (Even though I will be skipping both--no good artists are on the CD) Not even Britney Spears' Crossroads (which featured the statement "Featuring the song 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman'") advertised the soundtrack that cheaply.
