Oh without a doubt Old Navy! I hate that annoying Mike Brady motherfucker!!! I wish that he would fall on the fucking pitchfork in the Green Acre commercial, and that Morgan Fairchild would get smacked in the heat with a hammer!!! As bad as they are they are no where near as bad as the Nike commercials.

I agree with KC about the girl in the Old Navy commerical - assuming he's talking about the brown haired girl with the parted bangs and I think a blue top in the commerical.

Otherwise, those commericals are better solely for the cheese factor - some of the older ones are just plain weird. Shatner needs to do one of those.

Those Gap commericals represent everything that I think is wrong with the world. It's not the singing and dancing, just the fact that it's all so fake. Models singing - bleech!

haha i have to admit i LOVE the gap commercials. theyre so... perfect for the holiday season. and its so... normal... you know? like its just attractive people dressed all cozily in front of a white wall, singing and dancing... i dunno. i love it. they pick good songs too... ive always been a fan of the gap commercials since the "dress you up" and "mellow yellow" campaigns came out.

hey, how about those ikea unboring commercials? I LOVE THEM (not the family melodrama ones but the one that spike jonze directed, with the lamp? funniest thing ever!)

I don't know the Old Navy ones, but do you guys want to here about my defining moment at University? I'll make it really short?

Okay, so my degree was in Film and for one of the modules we had to make an advertisement of less than three minutes. At the time, the GAP adverts were the 'in' thing so basically my video, which went on to win me a £400 cheque from the faculty (for best submission of the year), went like this:

There was a troupe of dancers -- thirty students, all dessed in GAP clothing -- doing a choreographed routine, as per the style of GAP's advertising campaign. The dance routine was as cheesy as hell (think GAP-cum-Spike Jonze's video for 'Praise You') and we set it to the REM song 'Shiny Happy People'. Now the dancers are giving it the big licks, with the crappy dancing and the rosy cheeks, and Michael Stipe singing all the while, when suddenly a group of kamikaze sub-machine-gun-wielding-crazy-people burst in and fire a thousand rounds into the dancers, killing each and every one of them with more violence than you would find in a Paul Verhoeven flick. As the smoke clears and the REM song continues a subtitle appears...

FCUK (or French Connection United Kingdom for you Schmoes not aware of our fashion brands). It was a blast to make and the video, which I still have, makes me laugh my ass off every time I see an ad on TV for the utterly terrible GAP...

I hate the Old Navy commercials with a passion. Morgan Fairchild just needs to stop. She's second to the Dell Guy for most annoying commercial person ever. But, on the other hand I like the Gap commercials for some reason. I don't particualarly the new ones but they have had some great ones. For instance the one with Willy Nelson and Ryan Adams. And also the ones where all different people sang "Give A Little Bit" by Supertramp.

Well since both Old Navy & The Gap is intially the SAME company they are pretty much despised here in the San Francisco Area also... But to put aside the ocassional protests I often see in Downtown SF I have to say that the Old Navy's commercials R goin downhill! Morgan Fairchild is getting old BADLY! And since the old lady with the glasses has passed away, their commercials are no longer cute. At least The Gap's ads has more style I think though I rarely shop at The Gap.

And yes, the Ikea comercials are amazing. I've only seen the Spike Jonze "Lamp" one, but am very eager to see the Wes Anderson directed ones. I check in with Ikea's site regularly, because these ads don't seem to be running in my area.



Best commercial out there, I think, is the new Volzwagon Convertable directed by Mike Mills and featuring ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky."

A car commercial with no car, but some of the best editing this side of Aronofsky.

Yea, I liked the Volkswagon commercial too. You don't know what they're trying to sell because they don't put the logo until the very end and your're like "ahh". I liked that music too by the way. It seemed like a very very short movie.

I love the Gap commercails, because they're so simple. Especially the ones around Christmas because I love when the models are singing holiday songs. I hated the Old Navy commercails with the Brady Bunch, but I can strangely tolerate the Family Fleece ones. Go figure.

LOL, I completely forgot about that commercial. It was sooo annoying and pointless. Thank goodness they finally took it off of air. But I guess they have to be fair to the female masses. Look at all those Victoria's Secret commercials. They need a chance to be "turned on". ;)
