Ginger Snaps.
Synopsis:
Brigitte and Ginger, sisters who are connected; they're best of friends and do everything together. All that is about to alter when after several animal carcasses are found, Ginger is attacked by the creature causing the killings; a werewolf. The werewolf is then killed while trying to finish of Ginger, and her sister.
After the attack Ginger convinces Brigitte to take her home and just patch her up. The injuries look server, however the wounds begin healing at an exponential rate.
A few days later Gingers personality begins changing, not paying as much attention to her sister, hanging out with the in crowd, whom earlier she wouldn't have a bar of, and even sex. The change begins to then move more rapidly and Brigitte begins noticing the changes in her.
Convinced that Ginger is turning into a werewolf, Brigitte gets help and tries to find a cure for her sister, before the next Full Moon. Otherwise Ginger may not be able to stop her now animal instincts from taking over and acting them out, and killing anyone in her way.

I was pleasantly surprised, I hadn't seen a Werewolf movie in quiet a while and this one didn't disappoint. It had a "The Craft" feel to it because of the close relationship of both the sisters, which was put to the test.

All around great movie, check it out when it's released, Australian Horror Fans where treated first with it getting a video release in Dec 2000, USA is soon I've heard.

Personnaly I was really disapointed with the flick. I think what ruined the film for me was all hype. I had the impression it was going to be the next American Werewolf in London but it turned out more like Teen Wolf 2.

Commando Spidey, how was this like Teen Wolf 2? Wasn't Teen Wolf the one with Michael "The Midget" J. Fox in it? This was much, much grimmer, in so many ways. "Ginger Snaps" was pretty darn tootin! Golly gee whiz, those pesky girls were so much fun to watch and that wolf wasn't too bad, darnit! Jason Vorhees speaks the truth. He knows his stuff. This movie was the cat's meow, the pig's tit, the monkey's uncle, the sheep's farmer, um, yeah.

I loved Ginger snaps it was a well written very dark film about a teenage werewolf. The acting was good and it didn't skip out on the gore. The film also caterers to an adult audience. So all in all it's a great film for every one.

Ginger Snaps is the best werewolf flick since The Howling. The characters were interesting and realistic enough to keep me glued to the screen when there wasn't any wolf action going on. Katharine Isabelle is great as Ginger and probably the sexiest villain of 2001. Also, the film was refreshingly void of any cartoonish CGI. The end creature looked pretty fierce as a result. While some say the conclusion is too drawn out and lengthy, I think it's thick with suspense and a solid way to wrap up a superior horror film. The best straight-to-video release of the year.

I saw this movie last night and i have to say i am pleasantly surprsed by it. It could have been a lot worse. It was funny, scary, and I liked the two sisters a lot, and i don't like many characters in movies today.

I think this movie is probably the best horror flick of 2001. It's awesome. Great character developement, good relationships between the sisters. I liked it a lot.

this was one fantastic movie! a real throw back in these days. its took the elements of teen slasher and mixed it up with a moral tory and warewolf. i hadent seen one good warewwof movie untill this one. i cared about the people i was seeing and the spookiness was all around. almost every scene was strange and it held my interest. The end was a tad lack-luster, i was expecting more but i guess i cant complain over all. it wasnt as depressing as i thought it would be but maybe i wasnt in my total mind. the first 5 minutes alone was woth my 3 bucks on renting...let alone the rest...FANTASTIC! mivie and im going to watch this one again and again...
one problem..NOTHING ON THE DVD!! a trailer the the flick and thats it! thats unheard-of now a days! but that does add to the intriuqe.
great movie!
the best in recent years!

I really enjoyed this movie, but I didn't care for the end at all.
[SPOILERS]
I was really disappointed in the way the whole film wrapped itself up. I think they could've given this a much happier ending.

I finally got to see this movie this past weekend and I just loved it.
The movie worked on so many different levels. It is one of the best (IMHO) horror movies to come out in a while (of course once again it is foreign.)
This movie totally rocked. The characters were well developed, the plot made sense, and people didn't do stupid things just so the writers could kill them off. Also, I know Canada is another country, but calling the movie foreign is kinda wierd. I keep thinking of bad dubbing and/or subtitles whenever I hear a movie being called foreign. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

eh...Canada's pretty much like "America Jr." anyways...lol...I heard a comedian say that once...
As far as the ending, I thought the downbeat ending was perfect for the vibe of the rest of the flick.
And just a little advice to anyone who hasn't seen it. Don't go around reading everything you can on the flick before seeing it, that's a sure bet to ruin it for you. Read 1 or 2 reviews and leave it at that. That way you won't have too many expectations
I review flicks for my site all the time, and I find that the less I read about a movie beforehand, the better a review I'm able to write on it.

***SPOILERS***
IMO the movie really couldn't have ended in any other way except with a downbeat ending. AFter all, the movie was permeated with a sense of doom. If they threw in a happy ending it would have seemed trite and a complete sellout.

I just got to see it last week. Even though I read a lot of good things about it I went in with low expectations. I really did not expect it to be as good as it was. The story was actually writen well (except for the mom, the tail, and needel neck). It was its own movie, a rare thing now a days. No cliched formulas or characters.
