I really love the scripts that Charlie Kaufman wrote for 'Being John Malkovich' and even the critically loathed 'Human Nature' had a deliciously evil twist to it. This one is about Kaufman's struggle to get a supposedly unfilmable book being made into a movie. It's highly autobiographical.
Can't wait to see it, but it'll be a while before it opens here in Holland (if it does at all). Will any of you schmoes check this one out soon? It opens December 6.

SLIGHT SPOILERS*

I couldn't wait and so read the second draft, and it is brilliant. Its about Kaufman adapting Susan Orlean's The Orchid Thief and it eventually becomes a comment on screenplays. The first two acts present Kaufman as very similar to Craig Schwartz, and the themes allow for vivid imagery and linking to orchids. The adaption itself is frantic, we constantly cut between Kaufmans presumable adaptation and Kaufman's deep miseries with writing and his lack of ability with women. But the movie makes its comment within the third act, which without giving anything away is as radical as Mullholland Drive's third act, but with more purpose.

Note that it is co-written by Donald Kaufman.

I'm going to say this right now, this is going to be the best film of 2002. Charlie Kauffman is one of the true original voices in american cinema today. Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper
in a Spike Jonze film, I can't fucking wait.

This is one of my most anticipated films of the year (besides LOTR). I can't wait until it comes to my town. I guess it was only released limited in LA and NY thus far.

Is Donald Kaufman a real person or just written into the script?

This is one of my most anticipated films of the year, soI can't wait to see it. Because it's a limited release though, it won't come to a theater here for awhile. I'm still waiting for Far From Heaven to come :(

Adaptation wins my curiosity award. What is going on with this film? I've seen the trailer and now I just have to see the movie. I am completely confused and enthralled. Kaufman wrote the screenplay and actually wrote himself into the screenplay about a writer who is attempting to do an adaptation of a book and well thats as far as I get...guess ill just have to wait and see it.

There is no Donald Kaufman. Jonze and (charlie) Kaufman love jokes like that.

Just look at the three kings DVD, where Jonze refuses to drop his hick accent for the interviews, and will only talk about how cool explosions are.
