el crimen del padre amaro
my aunt was visiting and she was telling me that she tried to go watch this movie with a friend of hers from work, when they arrived at he movie theatre they were surprised to see people with signs protesting the movie right outside the movie theatre, my aunt was not prepared for this unexpected crowd. she did not have the courage to go and watch the film, she said she felt bad because of the things the people were saying to her. i offered to go see it with her since they probably wont bring it to a screen near to where i live. i'll just wear earplugs or something when i walk up.
in case anyone hasn't heard the movie is about a priest who falls in love with a teenage girl who becomes pregnant, she seeks his help in getting an abortion and this uncovers other happenings going on in the Chruch. Mainly that the Church is being partly funded by drug money.
many priests have denonced the movie for its vicious portrayal of priests but one priest was quoted as saying that it is an "honest movie" and that it should be looked at as a "wake up call for the Chruch to review it's procedure for selecting and training priests and being closer to the people."
is this playing in a theatre near you? are there people protesting?
