The King of the Indie Flick, as well as The King of Sleaze, James Spader has been great in a dozen of obscure gems, most notably:

1. John and Rick Westford in JACK’S BACK
2. Graham in sex, lies & videotape
3. James Ballard in CRASH
4. Lee Woods in TWO DAYS IN THE VALLEY
5. Cray Fowler in STORYVILLE
6. Rip in LESS THAN ZERO
7. Michael Boll in BAD INFLUENCE
8. Ray Reardon in DREAM LOVER
9. Max Baron in WHITE PALACE
10. Roger Barnes in WALL STREET

Spader's best film is definitely sex, lies & videotape, but I thought his best roles to date were as good/bad twins in JACK'S BACK, an 80's variation of the Jack The Ripper story. Although nowhere near the same league as the more recent "Jack" thriller FROM HELL, JACK'S BACK does feature a few assets, especially Spader's dual roles.

Disappearing "actor". He plays this role to a T.

I thought he was really good as Stuart in "Wolf" (1994).

I've only seen one of his movies. He did great as Graham in sex, lies and videotape.

i enjoyed his work when he was on Seinfeld!! but that aint a movie... movie is one that u didnt list... i enjoyed STARGATE!

A great performance by Spader... pompous, smarmy, condescending. And that white "suit" with no socks... he should've been smacked around just for that.
Spader really captured the essence of this douchebag character. Well done!

he was great! i definately agree wuth you about his performance and the assault rap....he's the type of guy everyone knew in high school and just wanted to kick the crap out of! ha

Steff in PRETTY IN PINK
Spader knows how to be a yuppie badass, even a teen yuppie badass.
His two roles in JACKS BACK

I liked him in Tuff Turf

All his roles kick ass, except for BABY BOOM. Far too stereotyped for him.
