The trailers for Spider are extremely twisted and bizarre. However since this is a Cronenberg film, I should expect it.

Anywho I am very intrigued by Spider and I will check it out........

Check out the kickass poster right Here (http://www.moviegoods.com/movie_product.asp?sku=162474&master%5Fmovie%5Fid=20163&affiliateID=393&adID=1404).

Personally, I can't wait for this film. Cronenberg is a brilliant director and the word has been great about this film, I think it even won some sort of an award at Cannes.

I saw this at the edinburgh film fest a couple of months ago and well...I'm sorry but I thought it was Cronenberg's weakest film to date. It was strange because it's very different to other cronenberg films, as it does not explore the "body horror" themes he usually does, this ones about mental illness. Fiennes performance is good it's clear he put a lot of work into it but his mumbleing gets tiresome before the end, and almost made me wish the OTT loonie from red dragon would come back, indeed thats the second biggest problem with the film, it's to long and I'm sad to admit I got bored with it's slow pace. Cronenberg tries to make the east end of london seem an unusual and scary place from spiders point of view, and I can see why he'd do that but it's hard to take the audence to that place spiders at if they have been to the east end of london (or even are regular watchers of BBC soap opera eastenders which is set in the same area as this and again sadly the film reminded me of the soap in places) and the direction seems a little blander than cronenberg usually is, which kinda brings me to my main problem with this film which can be summed up like this:

It's just like Eraserhead only not as good.

That was my first thought when the film ended which is a shame.

I dunno maybe I'm being hard on this film as I love Cronenberg's other stuff, and was looking forward to this a lot, the acting is strong all round and it is creepy in places, but the bad does outweigh the good here.

I'd give spider 2.5 out of 5, and I think that is possibily being generous. Sorry.:(

Its about some guy who I think killed someone when he was a kid and was sent to a mental institution. When he comes back, he has all these wacky flashbacks and hallucinations . Hes schizophrenic.
