I have some friends who loved Spider-Man and Titanic.
I just don't see it. I hated both movies and never understood all of the attention they received

Different strokes for different folks Freak. I personally loved American Beauty and enjoyed Rocky Horror for what it is. But everyone has their own opinions.

im with screamer you can like what you like as long as your not hating it because everyone else is or hating it because it's popular. that just ticks me off. anyhoo i was amused by rocky horror but thats i'll ive seen of those.

I do have some friends who have different opinions than I (although I have been firmly told that they are *not* bad...just... different.) ;)
I also do not see the joy in Rocky Horror, but, I know many people who saw it countless times in theaters during its original release, and have many friends who watch it every Christmas, always. (why Christmas? No clue).
The other two movies you disliked are two I really enjoyed...but...I quote the horrid show Dif'rent Strokes "the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you, may not be right for some..."

most kids my age are suckers for just about any movie. I go up to one of them and he goes "did you see halloween resurection? that movie ruled! busta rhymes was awesome!" Okay, the part about halloween ruling was bad enough, but adding busta rhymes "ruling"??? way too far. if nothing else putting him in there was the biggest mistake.

I always find that I hate the movies that everyone else likes & love those that everyone hates.
The main one that annoys me is 'Mulholland Drive'. That was the worst film I've ever seen- it just struck me as boring, pretentious bollocks. Why is it that if something is weird and different then it's instantly revered and called a 'classic'? They say that David Lynch is enigmatic because he won't give anything away. Maybe it's just because even he doesn't have a clue what he's on about!

I initially posted with the intent of responding to your desired thread, and, if you see the beginning of my post...I sort of did. But I thought I would add a note, and never fully regained my train of thought. My apologies. :)

Why did you start this thread and then delete your first post, with the titles of movies you don't care for? People were just responding to what you said, no need to get testy.
As for me, my friends love "Boondock Saints" and I couldn't stand it. Same goes for "Lord Of The Rings."

in my opinion, i did need to get testy...it was annoying me. so i deleted it because i didn't want anyone else to respond and get me annoyed. i mean respond SOLELY to my post, which many were doing. so...thats why
freakandgeak,
See if i understand what you are saying, It's kinda the Lakers winning a big game, and my friend still talking about it 3 YEARS LATER. After a while, you just wanna reach over and punch them.

Bid Pudge, you are so clueless! Nevermind is one of my favorite films ever, with great direction, writing, and acting by leads Tom Hanks and Morgan Freeman. It was such a shame that it never garnered not one Academy Award. Tsk tsk tsk.
He he, I think we've made freakandgeek feel bad enough.

Well the mighty JoBlo liked XXX so I guess some people agree with your friend :P

Well, as thin a plot as it was, XXX actually did have a plot. My friend meant that a film could literally have no plot, and make a shitload of money because of special effects.
*Audiences aren't as stupid as some people think
Noooo, I'd have to say audiences are as stupid as I think they are.

No, seriously. A lot of times Hollywood underestimates the intelligence of the average viewer. Okay, sometimes a dumb movie might make a few bucks, but for the most part, "great" movies make a shitload of money. That's why so many bad movies bomb. Does The Adventures of Pluto Nash ring a bell?
If you're going to write a movie, at least make it slightly intelligent, or you may regret it for trying to make a fool of your audience.

Royal Tenebaums is a great film to get into a heated discussion over
I saw it loved it, recommended to all my mates, most of them hated it saying it wasn't funny!!!, see they saw that Ben Stiller was in it and expected Something About Mary or Zoolnader.
Also Swingers, watched it with a group of people and one of my mates complained the whole time about what a pussy Mike is yet by the end of the film he said he thought it was crap yet he spent an hour afterwards going on about the film. Surely if you didn't like a film you'd forget about it straight away and not debate it for hours
