When Gladiator won best picture at the Academy Awards, a black day for film indeed.

Man you guys are harsh, I like Kevin Costner. And Gladiator was a good movie!

Anywhoo...I think that the worst day in cinema history was when the big studio executives got together and said "Hey it worked the first time let's do it again and again" Thus crappy half baked sequels were born. So whatever day that was.

Another terrible day was when Brad Pitt walked off the set of the Fountain. A potentially great Darren Aronofsky film is now dead.

The day some exec said "Hey...this Dunst girl was decent in that Vampire movie...maybe she'll be good in this?"

and

The day that Gwenyth Paltrow and Ben Affleck said "Hey! Let's make another movie together..." and Bounce was born.

Early 2000, 20th Century Fox Headquarters: "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to put that guy from That 70's Show and the guy from American Pie together in a 'comedy' about aliens, drugged-up dogs and a stolen car?! We could give it a fancy name!"

Hey! I enjoyed Gladiator, too. But the best thing Costner ever did was the dead guy in The Big Chill. You only saw his hand, and he had no lines. Perfect role.

"'Dry land is not a myth. I've seen it.' - Kevin Costner, Waterworld. I don't know what the big fuss is about. I saw that movie nine times. It rules!"
- Jim Carrey, The Cable Guy
