Well, if you can sit through the atrocities that are parts 2 & 3, you'll definitely like the first. Personally, the only one I really enjoy is BRIDE of CHUCKY. I own 1 & 4.

Child's Play is a classic. It has it's cheesy moments but all in all it's a solid horror flick with some great scares and it's not as funny as the rest of the series tries to be.
Child's Play- 10/10
Child's Play 2- 7/10
Child's Play 3- 4/10
Bride of Chucky- 9/10

It's pretty good, the only real flaw being the somewhat slow pace of the film. Personally, 2 is my favorite of the series.

Not the best, but a solid genre effort nonetheless.

Dude, Childs Play a 10/10 ?!?! are you serious? I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, but it's far from flawless. I'm curious to see what else you would consider a "10".
I would say
Childs Play 7/10
Childs Play 2 6/10
Childs Play 3 4/10
Bride of Chucky 9/10

Bride of Chucky-4.5/5

I liked all four to some extent. As I've said before It's not how well there acted or how well there made or how beliveable they are its how entertaining they are. if a movie is unintresting, and is pretty much boring I really cant like it. I'm not saying long movies are boring. some are but some short films are really fucking boring too.
ok i dont really know what i'd give em. i just have to say I liked all four as i said above. meh.

First one was good, at least better than the sequels so see it.

Thanks for you're views/ratings, I will now have to buy the first Child's Play and make up my own mind, but I agree with "The Claw", it's how entertaining a film is as to whether it's any good.
Regardless whether or not a film is done well or really badly, if you can stay watching it and it makes you laugh or whatever, why not watch it. For example take Jaws; Everyone fucking loved that film when it first came out, but even thogh he is blown to fuck in the first one, he manages to come back without any explanation as to how!!!!!! I'll bet you've all seen the sequels and thought " Christ this is bollocks! but I bet you kept on watching because it was entertaining wasn't it!?"
Same with Star Wars 6 - Return of the Jedi - God, those chicken walkers look shite when they're attacking the ewok village or something, but everyone accepts it as being great - it's excuse - George Lucas didn't have the technology to do it well... No offense to you Star Wars fans.... I was merely making a point!

Col. Sanders, all I can say is Starwars is bollocks, why won't George Lucas just accept that the first three movies were a success and bring out a new film??? Die Star Wars!!!!! Die!!!!!!!!!
No offense intended:D

I was obviously under the mistaken impression that this thread was discussing the complete and utter crap that is Child's Play.
However if you want to stand there and tell me that Star Wars is crap, i suggest that you first go and look up what the greates movie of all time is as well as the top ten grossing movies of all time.

Whoa down boy...this is a horror forum, I don't think we should start debating on Star Wars.
Just one point I'd like to make.
I thought it was made pretty obvious that the shark in Jaws 2 was a DIFFERENT SHARK. I don't think they are trying to tell you at all that it was the same shark, because THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE. You're right, we saw it blow up, which is why it ISN'T THE SAME SHARK.
Anyways, just a thought.

Agreed.
The Jaws comparison is irrelevant, as it wasn't the same shark in the sequels. There are other sharks in the ocean, boy!
As for Child's Play, I enjoyed it. I prefer Child's Play 2 personally, but the first has some interesting scenes.
As for the sequels... Child's Play 3 is entertaining in a wierd way.. and Bride of Chucky is one of the better horror/comedy flicks of the 90s.

What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying that my opinion is wrong? What I think is 10/10 is my opinion, I know Child's Play is flawed but so are thousands of 10/10 flicks (if their are thousands). I thought Child's Play was great, cheesy at times but still great. I don't appreciate you picking me out of the lot to question my opinion. Many would question our rating of Bride of Chucky but it's our opinion not theirs.
Other films I consider 10/10 are; The Shining, Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, The Ring (2002), Jeepers Creepers, Hellraiser, John Carpenter's The Thing, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Prince of Darkness, The Crow, From Dusk Till Dawn, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Interview With the Vampire, Cannibal Holocaust, Hannibal, Silence of the Lambs, Alien, An American Werewolf in London, Signs etc.
Now for non-horror flicks;
Requiem for a Dream, Casino, Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, Black Hawk Down, Braveheart, Taxi Driver, Platoon, American Beauty, Bully, Center of the World, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Romeo and Juliet, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Seven, Fight Club etc.
I hope you approve.

The odd few that I haven't seen like an american werewolf in London, Cannibal Holocaust?? was it?? but I do feel that Aliens is better than the first. Don't get me wrong Matt, I love the whole Alien Legacy definately. Also I've never seen Requiem for a dream before. Wot's it about:D

The Child's Play films were never banned, UK shopowners just decided to take it off the shelves due to the controversy surrounding Child's Play 3 after the death of James Bulger (the incidents were, incidentally, unrelated).
And I think the 1st is the best, but only for a first time viewer that may not know the doll comes alive. Otherwise the second one's the best due to the 1st one taking a while to get into the action.

No need to worry about posting your opinion as long as you don't undermine someone else's. The second Alien flick is better in the action sense, it has a better pace and fun characters. I feel the first one is equal to the second and I feel it's more of a straight up horror flick with sci-fi overtones. Both get a 10/10 from me.
The reason I was angry with the post mentioned above was the derogatory tone it had. I don't like my opinion undermined, what I like is what I like, anyone else can agree or disagree all they want but my opinion is just as valid as everyone else on the board. Others will agree and disagree all the time, it's all a matter of how you phrase it. If he would have said, "I think this flick is a 7/10" that would be fine but he made a point of mentioning me and stating that my opinion wasn't correct, not in those words but the implications were very obvious.
Anyway, it's over and done with now but I urge everyone to treat others with respect on their posts.
Requiem for a Dream concerns 4 individuals who get hooked on various substances (cocaine, heroin and diet pills), we watch their lives slowly spin out of control up until the ending that is truly hard to watch. It is my favourite flick to date and it's ingenious. Check it out!!! You won't regret it!
Take care man and I hope you're able to find it,
Matt

One of the things I really like about this movie, on top of how well it is done, is that it really shows the hypocrisy of thinking that the difference between legal drugs and illegal drugs is cut and dry. It illustrates that legal drugs, which are not frowned down on by society can be equally bad as illegal ones, which society does shun.

Damn right! I agree, the diet pills were a great example of how easily obtainable highly addictive medication is, "I got them from a doctor", "Which Doctor?", "The Nice Doctor, he's a good doctor".

I have recently seen the first Child's Play on the Sci-Fi Channel (SKY) and it is great!!!
Well it's what I expected only the doll animation wasn't as bad as I'd anticipated. In all, It's a classic horror flick that you just can't beat. I prefer it to Nightmare on Elmstreet and Friday the 13th, etc. anyday although, A Nightmare on Elmstreet 3: Dream Warriors is Cool!:D
