I'd give everything else a 9 or a very strong 8. Stan's my fave and I've never made any secret of it.
And Barry Lyndon is great. Bad advertising killed it. (Built up as a Tom Jones-esque romp, which it most definitely is not.)

The thing that turned me away from Kubrick was Clockwork Orange. Unlike most Americans I couldn't see the deeper meaning of the film. All I saw was the grotesque, idiotic, boring exterior.
HOWEVER
The Shinging does get a (10/10) and
Full Metal Jacket and Dr. Strangelove both get an (8/10)

None of 'em.
I'm not a Kubrick fan at all. Of the films of his that I have seen, Dr.Strangelove is the best by a long shot, I'd give it a B.
The rest:
The Shining C
2001:A Space Odyssey C-
Eyes Wide Shut D

This rating used to be really low. Then I figured out, this movie wasn't supposed to be entertaining.
and...
The Shining.
P.S: The only two Kubrick's I have seen.

Yeah, Barry Lyndon is underrated.
A lot of good flicks, but the only 10/10 I'd give is A Clockwork Orange. The Shining is close at 9/10. The rest are 8 or lower.

wow, im shocked to see so many people like eyes wide shut ....my eyes shut durning the movie . i still believe he died durning the making and some else stepped in to film ... which is like salvador dali stepping in to finish the mona lisa .... it cant be.
and with kurbrick , theres just to much going on up stairs to figure out by your self , look what happened to AI . I think if Kurbrick would have lived to do it ,it would have ended really dark . that ending we have now is to much of speilberg ( and i liked it still , but would have loved it to end when david jumps into the water or have the sub get stuck under the wheel and just fade out ... really fucking our heads up , like only kubrick could ). And speaking of Speilberg , did you know that he went on record to say that THE SHINING is his worst movie , he said Jack over acted ....can you believe that , oh and Stephen King also agreed with him saying it was the worst story of his to be turned into a movie , thats coming from a guy who made Maxium over drive ....
