Ok, I have just seen the Evil Dead trilogy and absolutely LOVE it! I bought the Evil Dead and Dead by Dawn DVD's, and am now looking for an AOD. But, I came across two copies. One is called "Army of Darkness: Bootleg Edition" and under special features it says Director's Cut. The other has a comic Ash on the front, raising his chainsaw and shotgun. It also says Director's Cut. What's a Deadite to do?

In my opinion dont get the directors cut get the regular version. The directors cut cuts out some one liners and the ending in my opinion is not as good...

Spoilers For God's sake do not read !!!

In the directors cut the magician tells Ash that for every drop he drinks from the vial he will sleep 100 years but he drinks too much and when he awakes he finds himself in a post apocolyptic earth. In the regular version there is a cool last fight scene with a Deadite she Bitch which is better in my opinion

The Director's Cut -as previously stated - has altered one-liners and a completely different ending. The non-Bootleg edition has the ending that was made for American audiences.
I like both endings for their own reasons, and if you really care Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell like the Bootleg ending more...
If the Bootleg version has a commentary, that alone is worth the purchase, IMHO. Buy it just for that!
I bought the two-DVD set with BOTH versions the first time it ran around on DVD back in 1998... Plus 4 other versions from around the world on tape and laserdisc hehe.
Well, good luck and I think you'll like either version you buy...

Get the director's cut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It actually feels like an Evil Dead movie, I hope I'm not too late!

It's 10 times better than the theatrical version and I loved the theatrical version as well. Who cares about a couple of line changes! It has so much more added and you'll thank me afterwords.

I havn't seen either of them in a while, but i'm pretty sure that both editions are damn good. I hear Bruce Campbell won't sign the Bootleg Edition though as he gets no money from it as just a bunch of no-brained editors made it. I'm not sure though

That's retarded, The Bootleg Edition is sold in stores and it's not the fan's fault if he didn't get money from it. He's being an ass to the fans by not signing it.

Read Bruce's post on autographs at www.bruce-campbell.com before you call him an ass.

P.S. the director's cut is alright, but it just doesn't have the breakneck pacing that the theatrical cut has.
