This may not be horror, but what do you guys think

It's horror enough for me Michael,

anyways, I love this movie. It's the most creative kids movie I've ever seen, and really I don't know how much of a kids movie it is. It's really very morbid, and at times...somewhat...scary.

Yeah it's creepy enuff to be considered horror. Burton in top form. And even tho it's kinda off topic, if you liked Nightmare, try to catch an early Burton film called Vincent...it's a short, but it's just as cool as NBC .

It's cool how they got Chris Sarandon to do the voice of Jack Skellington. Well, the speaking voice.

It was an ok movie. No more, no less. I think that Burton did a great job and that's the only reason it turned out above average. It was creepy and morbid and I really don't see hoe it's for little kids, but I don't think it could be classified as true horror.
6/10

Tim Burton did not direct this gem. Henry Selick did. All Burton did is draw character sketches and help come up with the story. Selick and his crew did all the pain staking work that is claymation. I love Burton to death but poor selick gets no kudos when they are due to him.

One of my all-time favorites as well, and no it is NOT horror. I wish we saw more of that clown. This movie is so well crafted and written, I'm not a fan of musicals at all but everything in this movie works. I own the DVD and its great. One of the few, possibly only movies that can be shown at both Christmas and Halloween.

The movie is awesome.

I just purchased the DVD which had a suprise not mentioned on the box. The 2 shorts 'Frankenweenie' and 'Vincient' are included on the disk. I cannot saw enuff about the latter. It's a short (8 mins about) animation about a boy who thinks he's Vincient Price (who actually narrates the piece)....

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one twisted little movie. It's on my DVD to buy list (along with about 1000 other movies so god knows when it's gonna rise to the top). Except for Planet of the Apes I am totally in love with every Tim Burton movie to date (although i've yet to see Pee Wee's Big Adventure so i'll reserve judgement on that one). When I went to see TNBC in the cinema one little kid had to be taken out of the cinema because he started crying hysterically. Gotta love a movie that can do that. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyway...my main reason for posting on this thread is to recommend a book. Tim Burton wrote and illustrated a book of dark and twisted poetry called "The Melancholy Death Of Oyster Boy". It's ofter funny, sometimes sad and very, very twisted. I really believe that Mr Burton must have had a very strange upbringing.

Check it out if you haven't already.

I love that book. Youve never seen pee wees big adventure? Go Now! Quit your job. Buy it and watch it over and over again for three days to make up for the lifetime you spent not worshiping it. Plus its educational. You learn there is no basement in the alamo.

Yeah I love this Tim Burton masterpiiece...I know he didnt direct it but its got his genetical imprint all over it..plus look what happens when Selick goes out on his own, you get Monkey bone...

I love the songs in this they are perfect.
Specially like that song that Sally and Jack sing at the end.

"Well be together ..now and foreeeever.."

Plus the animation and characters are perfect. They went through a lot of trouble to animate all the characters this was not computer animated and it makes it all the more special to me..How many of you wouldnt just love to actually live in that cool little halloween town?

As for pee wee, love it too. Its excelente.
One of the weirdest movies ever made..."paging mister herman, paging mister herman, you have a telephone call at the front desk" HA! That allways cracked me up! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

It's a wonderful film, and one of my top ten DVDs. Wonderful animation and art style, and extremely funny.

And by the way, it's NOT a "kids' film".

you know when i saw this in the theater, there were of course tons of kids(god forbid parents use common sense)

it was pretty funny to see them all screaming and crying while their inept guardians ran out of the theater with them.

All I can say is when I first saw this movie (my friends who owned a theatare at the time played a midnight show before it was to be released for his friends, cool) I balled my eyes out. It was so perfect. I cried like a wee little baby.

Also, I went as Jack Skellington for Halloween that October and was the belle of the ball!!! One of the costumes I was most proud of ( I hate paper mache).

The film would be nothing, and I repeat NOTHING, if it wasn't for its incredible visual look. I'm glad it didn't have a huge budget, because the slightly cheesy special effects (such as the cel overlays and the slightly jerky animation) give it a huge amount of atmosphere.

I love this movie too. It's a good movie to watch around Christmas time http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif And I think it's considered horror enough. Luckily I found the DVD for 9.99 http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif Not to shabby.
