Ok, we all know that the overall answer is gonna be Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers. But, what about all those films that if it wasn't for Frodo would be the best film you've seen this year.

For me it's gonna have to be Donnie Darko. I loved this film so much. It's a shame that it didn't have as much publicityas it deserved. For a debut film this is superb stuff. Richard Kelly is the new David Lynch and I can't wait to see more stuff from this guys mind.

Donnie Darko is technically a 2001 film.

The BEST film of 2002 so far is none other than David Cronenberg's Spider. It makes A Beautiful Mind look like putrid shit.

So far it's been "Signs"(9/10). But I have a feeling some of the movies coming out in late December may knock it down a few places.

I think this thread should be in Best/Worst/Favourites forum but...

Mine would have to be The Rules of Attraction or Bowling for Columbine. Both are gritty, realistic films. I love 'em both. I think I go for THE RULES FOR ATTRACTION by a hair.

But well this will be fully answered come January.

So far, Bowling for Columbine or The Man Without a Past. But, I won't be able to say certainly until January (I'm anticipating a little thing called Helm's Deep to knock these down on the list).

SIGNS (10/10) is my favorite film of the year thus far, a frightening, emotional, and flat-out chilling picture.

Probably The Rules of Attraction (9/10) and Jackass :D (9/10). But after GONY, Two Towers and Adaptation, it could all change

Kissing Jessica Stein (9/10)

The only movies I can see surpassing it are "Chicago" and "Far from Heaven".

This will remain number one, but I am sure Gangs of New York, The Two Towers, Catch Me If You Can, and Adaptation will make their way up the list once I've seen them all.

Hands down the two best movies I've seen this year are:

Spirited Away
and
Adaptation

Both of these are totally singular and unique visions from phenomenally talented film-makers.

I'm waiting now for The Two Towers...

Other movies I want to see are:

Spider
Ararat
28 Days Later
Secretary (I know it's out but none of the theaters near me had it)

Wow.

Someone has seen this movie. I'm shocked ;)

Not a big fan of Kaurismäki myself, and so haven't yet seen this one. But I do intend to catch this, as people are calling it the best film to come from around here since...well, a very long time.

Oh, and the best films of the year so far have been About a Boy and Minority Report.

My most favorite movie i saw so far this year would be Insomnia (9.99/10). The reason it didnt get a ten is because I will never rank anything above Star Trek 2 (infinity/10).

I really enjoyed the Kevin Bacon, Charlize Theron movie Trapped. I know it didn't do very well in the box office but it was one of my favorites so far. I am looking forward to seeing The Two Towers, Gangs Of New York, and The Hours.
