Can anyone please tell me why this excellent movie has disappeared off the face of the planet. It is unavailable on Video or DVD in both the US and the UK despite being atmospheric, well acted and damn entertaining. It's been so long since I last saw it. So maybe i'm wrong about how good it is. I've been wrong before. I recently saw Night of the Creeps after having not seen it for about 15 years and was more than a little disappointed (possibly due to much of the gore having been cut out). My question is this. Have any of you schmoes seen Prison recently? If so could you confirm that it is indeed the genre masterpiece I remember it being and not a piece of b-movie junk? I'm going to put some effort into trying to track down a copy and I don't want to waste my time if it sucks big time. Thanks in advance.

Damn! I was about to rent it last night but I decided against it. It DID look pretty crappy...

If my memory serves then YES!!! It was good. But my memory ain't what it used to be (and it used to be shite). Based on what I remember of it i'd suggest you get your ass down to that video store pronto and get renting. I remember when I saw it I immediately thought "Hmmm...that Viggo Mortenson guy is gonna be big someday." It took a while but The Lord of the Rings finally seems to have done the job. Prison is actually directed by Renny Harlin. I know his career is patchy but he has done some worthy stuff. Die Hard 2, The Long Kiss Goodnight and especially Deep Blue Sea.

Oh and for the record, i thought Prison was Grrrrrreat!!! Been too long since ive seen it though tbh... got too many movies need watching for a first time to start backtracking, but its one of that rare breed of HORROR films, y know the ones without needless comic relief and shit..? I remember at its time of release, they were Heralding it as Empire Pictures best film!!!

PRISON was well done and had a good, non-sexual theme in it. Viggo Mortenson appears as a prisoner who experiences the wraith of the executed inmate.
Lane Smith is wonderful, and so is Chelsea Field.
I highly recommend this, but I can only find it on video to rent. Hopefully the DVD will come out.

Damn, what a great horror movie!!! I should've rented this the first time I got the Chance.

Unfourtunately, the version I saw was REALLY chopped up....I know there's an uncut version of this flick out there somewhere. There has to be.

Guys, this is a GREAT horror movie!!!
I highly reccomend it to all the gore lovin' schmoes.

The PRISON I saw was okay in regards to vioence and din't look chopped up to me, but the transfer was shitty.

I saw this movie about a week ago. Good gore, good atmosphere, and a lot better than I was expecting. Nonetheless, it is still pretty B-movie-ish. Plus, I'm usually a fan of Chelsea Field, but I found her a little off in this one.

I rented this movie at blockbuster(of all places) and thought it was okay.It wasn't too good.It's one of those movies where the lead actor is the hero.it wasn't as good as i expected it to be.
