ACIN, MTV, and Variety are all reporting that this is a go ahead and starts filming in May 2003! With a budget of US $105 million and good old Mel getting a hefty US $25 million to reprise the role. George Miller, director of the Max Mad 1 & 2, Lorenzo's Oil, and Babe: Pig in the City has spent 3 years developing the script. There are no details so far on what the story details.
Never thought I would happen, but on this scale it is even more of a dream for a lot of people coming true. Let the smashing of dune buggies and girocopters begin!

To tell you the truth I have never seen a "Mad Max" movie. I think it's time I check one out.

Urgh. I'm sorry, but MAD MAX is one of those series that has gotten progressivelly worse with each sequel. The last thing we need at this point is to see Gibson running around in leather pretending that he's still young enough for crap like this.

I'm so excited to hear this news!!! Hope to god Mad Max IV: Fury Road is as good as the second of the series, The Road Warrior -- one of the most stunning, visceral, action-filled movies EVER. It's a fantastic movie that holds up well 20 years later. So many movies have tried to imitate and never come close to repeating the magic of that one.

man this topic just cracks me up, maybe its because its 4 AM and im up. I dont know if it needs another sequel and what is MTV doing in the mix when MTV is Anti Violence? IVe always felt this movie had a sort of a Indiana Jones feel to it, but with more asskicking.

The first two in the Mad Max series were damn good, but the third was dreadful(3/10). Hopefully this one will bring the series back to its ass-kicking life, and not be another crapfest. I am intriuged now, but I am not totally psyched since the film is far away, and the series had dropped considerably in quality.

Maybe he'll play his age. As long as they don't shove any Matrix fighting scenes or try to chink up the action.

I actually thought the series got better as it went along. MAD MAX (7/10) had only its exhilirating car chases and excellent cinematography keeping it going (maybe it was just the horrid dubbing on the tape I rented that annoyed me). THE ROAD WARRIOR (9/10) was the same, only a message and better performances were added in there. I will be killed for this, but I consider BEYOND THUNDERDOME (10/10) to be the best of the trilogy. Everything THE ROAD WARRIOR was (minus the ferocity of the car chases), plus a great visual scope. I ought to give 'em all another try before Miller and company whip out a welcome fourth MAD MAX.

I liked the first Mad Max the best, especially now that they've released the new DVD with the original Aussie dialogue. The series got too carried away from the original theme. A title like "Fury Road" does imply that there might actually be a car or two in this new one.. so there might be hope.

Good move, I enjoyed the first 3 and a 4th will most likely kick ass. I dont mind Mel Gibson in the movie even though he is older , he still was a damn good character in Lethal Weopon 4, sorry abiout the spellin a little drunk right now
