I bought this used from my video store for like 4 bucks.
From the cover I assumed it was horror, but from reading the back it sounds sort of more like a comedy???
Needless to say this movie is confusing me and I haven't even watched it. It says that Clive Barker was involved, did he direct it?
What do you guys think of this one.

Clive Barker wrote it (it is based on his book CABAL) and directed it. NIGHTBREED is NOT a comedy whatsoever (I don't know why you'd think that). In fact, I'd say it's dark fantasy. It's got horror elements, but it's pretty fanastical. It's my favorite Barker story and it's a great film. Unfortunately, NB COULD have been better if it had a bigger budget, but it did phenomenal things with what it had. It's got LOTS of cool monsters in it. NIGHTBREED is one of my favs. Keep an open mind and you'll enjoy it. Also, David Cronenberg has a great role in it.
ENJOY!

Lord Crumb said it best.Night breed has to be one of Clive Barkers best.Should have been a major hit,but Fox promoted the film like a slasher.

Nightbreed was a great movie. The settings in the movie were great. I always loved the first shot of Midian at sundown. Very cool, obviously a matte, but very cool nonetheless.
I rate it at an 8.5 / 10

I enjoyed the hell out of this flick with all its cool creatures...
I really liked that scene with the guy whos got those little knives in his thumbs and peels the skin from his head...cool stuff.
Defenetly has a lot of fantasy elements in there...but I could help feeling like a lot was cut from this movie. Like they had more creatures to show but for some reason didnt.
Anyone remember that title sequence where we see the title of the movie "Night Breed" and inside of the letters you see all these cool scenes from the movie? Well I remember seeing some creatures in there that didnt quite make it into the film...
Oh and the musical score is really excellent. Danny Elfman outdid his self yet again..
I kept asking myself where I had seen NightBreeds character Boon before, and I remember him! Hes the bad boyfriend dude in John Hughes Some kind of wonderful! hah! What a stretch! From Jhon Hughes to Clive Barkere...:D

And don't forget he was the hellbound detective in HELLRAISER: INFERNO as well.

Nightbreed is a classic example of prosthetic latex make-up horror in all its glory. Its a great flick. Before everything was CGI,there were movies like pet cemetery, evildead 2, StreetTrash,Dead Heat,Re-Animator,Texas Chainsaw 2, Phantasm 2,Etc,Etc.Those were the days when I would eagerly await the latest issue of Fangoria so that I could get the cool poster out of it and hang it in my bedroom. So see Nightbreed cause Im not biased at all. ! Best, THISJUSTIN
