ok, everyone's got one not matter how cool and hardcore you are. admitting it will be like a catharsis and will allow you to breathe deeper knowing that you are no longer keeping your shameful secret locked away. i'll even go first, knowing full well that you could all leave me to piss in the wind...
i have yet to see john carpenter's "the thing"
Mojo67821

I haven't seen a lot of the Hammer Studios movies either, even though I'm a huge Peter Cushing fan. I was shamefully regress in watching "Rabid" for a very long while, Cronenberg fan that I am, but have since rectified that peccidillo just this year.
Haven't seen Romero's "The Crazies" simply because I just can't track it down.
Fulci's "House by the Cemetery"
I've never seen one Joe D'Amato or Jess Franco movie, because I really don't want to, or any Paul Naschy (sp?) movies besides the Fulci ones he's been in.
Missed many of the sequels to the original Universal monster movies.
Haven't seen one Leprechaun movie, but I take pride in that.
I've never seen "Cannibal Holocaust" or, really, any cannibal movie for that matter.

OMG!
I can't believe how many of you have yet to see BLACK CHRISTMAS!!! For Shame!!! I suggest you all go out and grab it and watch it this XMAS eve. It's the best way to watch it.
As for horror films I'm embarrassed about not seeing, I honestly can't think up too many. If I had to pick some, it would have to be some of the early UNIVERSAL movies...and I guess I'm kind of ashamed about the fact that I haven't seen the original INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS all the way through...

I've only seen one Hammer film, I haven't seen The Exorcist in its entirety, and I still haven't seen Rosemary's Baby, although I just bought it recently.
Gretchen_Ross
12-13-2002, 02:46 PM
countchocula, you should really watch "rosemary's baby." even though i'm not a fan of roman polanski (ducks flying objects), i find it to be a really good movie. all the acting is great, and it's got more of an old-school suspense vibe going for it.
i haven't seen the original "phantasm" either. and i call myself a horror fan?
countchocula
12-13-2002, 03:13 PM
I'll get around to watching Rosemary's Baby soon enough. I just haven't had the urge yet. I'm sure it will hit me when I least expect it. I have seen Donnie Darko, though!

Well, there are some movies people don't want to see. (The Leprechaun series, for me.) And the topic asked for movies you're ashamed you haven't seen yet, meaning, to me, the popular, highly ranked, or commonplace horror movies it seems like anyone who's a real horror fan has seen. It seems like "The Thing" or "Black Christmas" fills the bill for that.
countchocula
12-16-2002, 12:29 PM
Yeah, we're only listing films that are regarded as classics. I want to see as many horror films as humanly possible, but that's not what this thread seemed to be asking.

to add.. The Blind Dead Movies.
and I've yet to see ANYTHING by Hershell Gordon Lewis.
7th son.. SCALPS is actually REALLY good.. cool, deserty posession movie. The first time I watched it I wasn't really too impressed.. believe me, its a grower!
and I saw the Trailer for CREEPAZOIDS a few days ago..it looks Fantastic!
I doubt either of those would be considered classics by ANY stretch of the imagination..

Ah, so you still haven't seen any of the Blind Dead flicks? I remember you saying that you were yearning to track them down a few months ago. I wouldn't worry about it. I couldn't find much to cherish in the first two films. Poor acting, useless subplots, sluggish pacing, dry death sequences, and next to no moments of mindless b-movie fun. I dig the Templar Knights, but they deserve to be in healthier productions. Most genre nuts seem to enjoy them, so you probably would, too. They just failed to enthuse me.

The first Blind Dead flick is pretty good. It's my favorite of the quartet.
The only H.G. Lewis film I really, truly, thorougly enjoyed was "2000 Maniacs." "Blood Feast" and some of the others have their fair share of gore (in some cases, MASSIVE amounts..) but are pretty awful films. "Color Me Blood Red" was the first Lewis film I ever saw (a few years ago) and happen to think it's his worst. I'm surprised after viewing the movie it didn't deter me from watching more of Lewis' stuff.
Now, you've picqued my interest even more on "Scalps." It'll be mine within a few weeks. And yeah, I've seen a trailer for "Creepozoids," too. Looks like a fun movie.
