I was going to drop this into the "Rape Scenes In Movies" thread on the General Forum but thought it might get lost in that heated debate. Has anyone seen this? It sounds quite interesting and I was thinking about splashing out on the recent DVD release courtesy of Tartan in the UK. It sounds very disturbing. It's a about a woman who survives being raped by three men only for them to turn up at her apartment where she lives alone 5 years later. She succeeds in turning the tables and exacting a grisly revenge. I like my movies dark and disturbing and this sounds like it might fit that profile.

So glad you liked Audition. I will email you when I see Freezer (I intend to buy both it and Dead or Alive by Takashi Miike when I get paid). Your profile doesn't state what your email address is though. Email me and i'll reply when I see Freezer.

I finally got around to seeing Freezer, after picking it up at a Film Fair on DVD for a fiver!

It's another of Tartan's series of Asia Exteme movies, which for me usually means the film will be worth watching (others in this series include the Ring cycle, Audition and Battle Royale - all of which I have and have enjoyed), and this is no exception.

Essentially this is a rape/revenge flick, in the tradition of I Spit On Your Grave, Last House On The Left etc, but it's beautifully shot and manages to hit you emotionally exactly where it's supposed to. It opens with the main character living in Tokyo five years after the rape (which is briefly alluded to in a short, but effective, pre-credits sequence, and we instantly buy in to the idea that she has managed to put her experience behind her and is getting on with her life. She appears to have a good job, friends at work, and is engaged to a co-worker.

However, then one of the men who raped her five years previously shows up and, well....... I'll let you find out for yourselves, those of you who intend to watch it!

I will say, though, that the tension is handled extremely well, and that I was hooked for the whole 110 minutes. It doens't quite have the 'kick to the stomach' shock effect of Audition, nor the creepiness of Ring, but it's still a very worthy addition to my collection, and a film I can see myself returning to in due course for a second viewing.

Basically, if you like the Asia Extreme films, then this is probably for you.
