What did you guys think of it?

I loved the movie myself, and thought QT's character was funny as hell.

It was a great vampire movie. George Clooney rocked. I thought that considering it was made 6 years ago the effects were awesome. That acting by all except for Clooney and Tarantino left a litlle to be desired, but overall it was good enough for a passing grade. Clooney was definetly the saving grace. 8/10

SPOILERS

Good movie, but I really didn't get why that vampire changed into a dog, when his haed was cut of.
But that's not important. Tarantino rocks.

Definately a great movie. As in all Tarantino written movies, the dialouge is fuckin hilarious and cool. "Ramblers, let's get rambling" (as first used in Res Dogs). Tom Savini is great in his extended cameo as Sex Machine....the biker with a penis gun. Excellent film.

This is just one freaky movie! The gore is just so over the top, it's non-stop! I agree Clooney was great casting, but to me it was Savini being there that makes this little gem special.

The sequel REALLY sucked tho.

a rare example of a good modern horror film and good horror film with bigname stars.

I remember leaving the cinema with a big 'ol shit-eating grin on my face that I couldn't lose for about an hour. I really gotta get the special edition DVD of this asap. I'm fucking ashamed that I haven't bought it yet.

I wen't into the cinema knowing that it changed genres halfway through. I'd have loved to have went in cold with no knowledge.

I went with two female friends one of whom was about as movie literate as I am and already new about the change from thriller to horror movie. My other friend though knew fuck all about the movie and doesn't really like horror movies. She did like Pulp Fiction and loved Desperado so it was a bit of a no-brainer for her. She let out a squeal when Salma Hayek did the transformation thing and grabbed my arm. She totally didn't expect it and as a result probably enjoyed the movie more than I did.

I'd give it 4/5 (4.5/5 if i've had a few beers).

Richard was ill. It was a great movie, different than others, but wonderful in it's adherence to the genre.

I enjoy Tarantino very much, though. I may be biased.

How about that flesh mogrified carriachi band? Weird eh?

FDTD is one of my favorite flicks. It has one of the best lines in movie history.

"Did they look like psychos to you? Is that what they looked like? They were vampires. PSYCHOS do not explode when sunlight hits them. I don't give a fuck how crazy they are."

This movie doesn't do anything for me. I think the vampires looks ok, but some of them looks stupid. Also I'm sorry, George Clooney just irritates me. I do however like the teenage girl, I thought she was the best character http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif The story was ok too, but all in all the movie isn't really anything special.

This was fairly good !! I did not expect to see a such good and entertaining movie !!
The only flaw according to me is that the action really begins after 30 minutes or more .
I love the dance - scene with Salma Hayeck !!
It was good to see Tom Savini playing the actor !!
What I also like is the fact that the ***** SPOILER ************ SPOILER ***********
kid and his father actualy die !! that was good because it is anti - Hollywood !!!

A couple I know went to see this with another couple, who happened to be very religious people. Apparently, they enjoyed the frst half of the movie and were shocked at the second part. I think they didn't see a movie with that couple ever again.

I rented this movie last Wednesday and bought the Collector's Series DVD this Monday! I LOVED IT!! I thought the opening scene in the liqour store was awesome, Clooney is too cool, Tarantino is funny as hell, the story is interesting, I had to poor ice cubes down my pants after Salma Hayek's dance, the acting is top notch, the directing is great, it was funny as hell seeing Cheech in his three different roles, and once the vampire slaughtering begins the movie just keeps getting better. My favorite part of the movie was seeing Tom Savini kick vampire ass!!! I LOVE the guy!
I also suggest buying the Dimension Collector's Series DVD for this film. It is awesome. The first disc is the documentary, "Full Tilt Boogie" which chronicles the making of the film, but it sucks (See Arrow's Review of "Full Tilt Boogie"). The second disc is the movie and the special features. We get awesome deleted sequences, including vampire creatures that weren't in the film, HILARIOUS outtakes, great Making of Featurettes and tid bits on the making of certain sequences, a bunch of TV Spots, Teatrical Trailer, etc. AWESOME MOVIE and it's got an AWESOME DVD treatment to go with it! GREAT MOVIE! I say SEE IT!!!!

I love this movie. It was introduced to me by one of my friends and he said it was an awsome film. I was a bit sceptical at first cuz most of the modern vamp flicks iv seen were rubbish. But MAN what a great film.
I love the bit just before they go into the bar when that guys outside shoutin about the different types of pu$$y they got. I pissed myself laughing.
By the way, the lead singer of the vampiric band in the bar is actually the guy who played Beetlejuice!

Thevamp giving the speech outside the bar was Ceech Marrin and no that band singer is not Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice was played by Michael Keaton (Batman, Batman Returns, Mr. Mom, Multiplicity)

i remember 3 deleted scenes...

-Salma Hyak sits on a guys lap (who happens to be one of the fx guys) and somthing comes out of her mouth and it bites his entire head off, it was a laugh riot when i first saw it, cause the fx on it were terrible (in a fun + cheesy way) 6/10

-Salma crawling around the floor, slithering like a snake for some reason (she turns into one later on) 3/10

-A fat vampire traps yet another helpless fx creator as a cameo biker and pops a pimple all over his face, the outcome effect is cheesy but its pretty funny when you see it. Robert said it was one of his old hih school movie gags 8/10

-and there was some more gore left out by the mpaa, most noticably is longer shot of the fx guy who got his throat slashed and a large vampire stripper throwing a guys head like a baseball (but it only goes 2 feet). Over all the extra gore doesn't matter and its not that noticable 3/10

i know theres more but i'll have to check back later and tell ya...

We also have a deleted scene where one creature that is only seen in one part of the film (where George Clooney, Harvy Keitel, Fred Williamson, and Tom Savini face off against the four vamp girls after ripping the one's heart out, the creature on the far left) The girl changes into the creature, has her moments with her customer, then has a second mouth open in her stomach which she sticks the guy's head into and it bites his head off.

We also have an alternate take where the Ranger at the beginning gets his Jack Daniels and leaves unharmed (was because Robert didn't call cut as he explains in the commentary).

There is also a scene where after George and the gang agree about them facing vampires and Tom talks about the vamp's bodies being soft and if u hit one hard enough u can take the head right off, he walks over and see the last beer bottle standing on a table across the room. The last bottle unbroken. He takes his whip and breaks it. We see several takes of Tom's skills with the whip.
