Thanx to some fellow Shmoes reccomendations, I rented and watched, and I was not let down (much)!
I have not liked Michael Pare's performances since Eddie and The Cruisers ( and there I am biased, I know what it's like when your trying to be the "visionary" behind a band, and he nailed it dead on). However I found this his best performance that I've seen.. His relationship with Thor was pretty damn believable, and those scenes really had great tension. Mariel Hemingway was her usual self, not great but not bad either...I particularly liked the "Flopsy" scene at the beginning. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
The werewolf FX were great ,UNTIL that HORRIBLE CGI transformation...christ why didn't they just stick with the animitronic wolf, it looked awesome!....
I thought it was an interesting story, just a simple tale, and kept simple. I really liked how he tried to stop himself by handcuffing himself to the tree, tho I don't quite get why he stopped doing so.
The battle scenes with Thor were outstandingly real looking, I was really worried poor Thor wasn't gonna make it...
So a thanx to the Shmoes who put this in their top werewolf flicks over on Best/Fav...cuz I prob wouldn't have ever seen this film otherwise.
And it gave me a pretty cool idea for a "different" sort of lycanthrope story http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
Next up: The Quiet Earth
