Well, uh, how about making your characters with a lot of flaws but still likeable. In other words, no heroes. Make the characters as real as possible and don't follow any horror cliches including character cliches or stereotypes. Don't have the black guy die first, setup your so-called hero character and kill him/her at the 30 or hour mark of the movie and have someone least expected to take over. Just suggestions.

I have tons and tons of ideas in my head and sometimes i write them down but i never fully get into it, but someday i will.
I basically try to come up with things that no one has ever done before, and if it has been done before than change it around. In other words, suprise 'em big time.
Its ok to use very outrageous things even if its supposed to take place in the "real world" because it makes it more interesting.
Just stay away from cliche and stereotyping and come up with things that haven't been done before and there's your story and it would be easy with horror scripts because you could write something really f'ed up and different and people will buy into it.
I have always liked the idea of trying to mislead the audience by setting up a character to where they will think its the main character and of course he/she won't die, but he/she does. Big gasp, new character you would think would die takes over and concludes the movie, or you kill he/she to and so on and so on.
It could work if you write it well and have good setup good buildup, and have a good fast pace, especially for a horror film.

Sleepy now.:o
