Awesome underrated zombie flick. i'm surprized i never heard of this movie before. Its definatly a masterpiece and I think its better than Return of the Living Dead in terms of character development. At least we get a little bit of that in this movie. I also enjoyed the story that came along with it. Definatly a must see for any zombie fan.
Oh and thank you Arrow if it wasn't for your review i probaly would have never checked it out.

i rented this film one night with my buddies, based upon what i had read in arrow's review, and on the basis that the director eventually would make the monster squad. i enjoyed this flick a lot, it was gory and fun, one of the best combinations a movie can have for a night of drinking with soem friends

this is one of the few horror comedies I actually enhjoyed....but while I loved the movie I hate the version that runs on the USA Network, they switch a few things and change the ending....

Which ending has the spaceship flying over the cemetary? I thought that ending was much better!
Anyways, this is an original 80`s classic.

I'm one of the biggest supporters of Night of the Creeps; I just think it has everything a great b-movie needs. I haven't seen the USA version with its different ending, which I think is much cooler than the one on the video.

I love this flick! A great B-Movie, but not as good as Return Of The Living Dead.

Yeah I agree, "Night of the Creeps" definately has everything a good b-horror film needs. However, I also agree with Fergie, and consider "Return of the Living Dead" to be a far better film and overall superior zombie movie.

Elgyn, the ending with the spaceship flying over a cemetary is the USA version I believe. The USA version features the ageing detective (forgot his name) having already turned into a zombie, as a result of his confrontation with the space leaches at the climax of the film. He's pretty baked as well. The detective-zombie proceeds to fall flat on his face, which results in those little space leaches crawling off into a nearby cemetary, while above a spaceship, with a spotlight, searches for the little critters as the USA version fades to black.

The Video version ends with I believe, the same dog who infected the Prom-Bus kids, spitting out a space leach and infecting the love interest as the film suddenly ends. Maybe the dog infected the hero as well? Who knows? Maybe no one actually cares? lol

Pretty decent zombie movie, but nowhere near in the same league as "Return of the Living Dead" and "Dawn of the Dead" for sure. If you enjoy zombie movies, definately rent/pick this one up. It's pure cheese fun in my opinion.

Personally, I particularly enjoyed "Night of the Creeps" for its opening scene with the midget humanoid-aliens. My neighbor at the time, had a son who looked very similar to those midget humanoid aliens, and I thought this was even more hilarious than it actually was, at the time I discovered this connection since I was drunk. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have to return some Videotapes....

That alternate ending with the spaceship flying over the cemetary is sooo cool! They give this ending everytime that they play this film over at the sci-fi channel.Cool little detail #645 When they first released this in theaters they would give away these bumper stickers so that you would place them over your mouth, so no leaches would go into your mouth! heh hehe... cool stuff http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I was going to start a new topic about Night of the Creeps here, but I found this and figured what the hell. Brilliant movie. This one has everything, likeable main characters (except for the Bradster haha), actors who actually appear to be the right age for their characters, some brief nudity, great story development, and no sequels lol. Although in this case, I think a sequel could have been okay. Seriously, Night of the Creeps kicked my f'n ass, that's how good it is.

I actually came across a copy at a local shop in my town that deals in New & Used DVDs. Some budget company calling themselves ‘Visions Entertainment’ released it, the DVD is region free and it's labeled a ‘Special Edition’.

***SPOILERS***

DVD features:Menu/ a Slide show presentation of screen shots from the film/ Two versions of the film, the original (which seems to be culled from a video source print) the second version showcases an alternate ending featuring the very awesome Tom Atkins, who is now a French fried zombie from the aftermath of the house explosion, staggering towards the entrance of a cemetery. His head explodes (natch') and the slugs come pouring out of his skull, his lifeless corpse falls to the ground. The alien slugs slither off into the background of tombstones.

Suddenly, an odd shaped spacecraft is hovering over the landscape of tombstones as a beam of light shines upon the perimeter of the cemetery. Interesting ending, levaing the door open for a possible sequel (that never came about) I believe this alternate ending was shown on the sci-fi channel’. Sadly, this DVD is the full screen version, but it has a very decent picture quality that holds up nicely.

But, this DVD is NOT an official release; you can see by the packaging its a fly-by-night company, STILL it’s worth owning.

Plus it was under 10 dollars! How could I pass that up?

I found this gem on vhs about 6 weeks ago and I was not surprised by the quality of this movie because of all the postive reviews I read.

It is a bit a mix of different genres because you have science fiction, zombie, slasher, dark humor.
I like the cast and Tom Atkins rocks as the tired police investigator.
It's a fun fun movie with dark humor galore an energic cast and well written, too.
I hope there will be a zone 2 release and if possible a collector edition with an audio commentary.

First viewing, I found it kinda boring but seemed kinda neat.

Next viewing, I found the movie was perfect for the 80's camp type. It was super fun and cool all around.

Seen it like 10 times and I still watch it any time it comes on the movie channels.

I love this flick. It was like the "Shaun of the Dead" of its time in that it mixed horror, comedy, romance and drama. Sure, it's all done in a cheesy 80's style, but it WAS made in the 80's after all.

I remember actually seeing "Night of the Creeps" in theaters and loving every minute of it. Then, many years later, I saw it on one of the cable channels (USA or Sci-Fi) with the alternate spaceship ending and was all like "WTF? That's not how I remember it!" At first I was pissed that my beloved little flick was messed with, but upon reflection I decided that this new ending made sense and... well... it WAS kinda cool.

Nonetheless, I was as giddy as a drunken schoolgirl when I caught the flick again recently on the Encore Mystery cable channel complete with its original ending.

"Heh heh. Screaming rike banshees..."
