God I hate this.
Why can't I choose my own things to laugh at?
I say the laugh track must die.

Only 2 things bother me about the laugh track -
1. When it is poorly dubbed in - like there's no fading, or build up, you can nearly hear the levels being turned on and off.
2.When people laugh along with the laugh track, and have no clue what they are laughing at.

The laugh tracks really insult your intelligence. They automatically assume that the audience is an idiot(but if you watch any sitcom on CBS, ABC, and NBC, you must be*). But Seinfeld was a show that had one, but it kinda worked. I'd like to see Seinfeld without a laugh track, it'd be interesting.
*Just joking. Ha ha, funny funny.

The laugh track has become so ingrained in sit-com television that I don't even notice it anymore.
However, the intro-cheers track (or whatever its called) always makes me quirk an eyebrow.
These were big on Happy Days. Remember whenever Fonzie walked on camera, everyone would cheer and scream and "ooh" and "Aah".
It REALLY got ridiculous when they started cheering for Tom Bosley.

You can't eliminate the laugh track in any show that's flimed before a live studio audience, which basically means any sitcom.
The need a laugh track to cover shifts in the audience's real laughter as they cut from take to take or camera to camera (during which they may lengthen or shorted a reaction.)

The laugh track bothers me, mainly because it's people telling you when to laugh and went not to laugh. ait especially bothers me when the air it for cartoons, come on! I doubt people watched the show on a big tv and they recorded them laughing.

Must agree, it's just become second nature to have a laughtrack. I too have noticed the insanity on Happy Days....I believe I once heard a cheer for Jenny Piccalo! Come on, folks...she was desperately brought on camera in the last few seasons...she was WORTHLESS.
