WARNING-The following post contains spoilers, but trust me, it doesn't matter.
WEIRD! This movie is so fucking weird that it's hard to convey just how weird it is. Literally, this has to be one of the weirdest movies in existence. I'll see if I can compose a cohesive synopsis. A man wins the keys to a gothic castle in a poker game from a quirky, mysterious man (Christopher Lee). Once there with his family, a demonic jester is awakened. The jester (Funnyman, thus the title) proceeds to kill off the entire bunch in the first thirty minutes! Well, that is, except for the father who spends the rest of the film in a shopping cart blanketed in cocaine (don't ask). His brother arrives with an assortment of hitchhikers. The hitchhikers consist of Velma (the exact same Velma from Scooby-Doo, replete with orange sweater, magnifying glass, tempting skirt, glasses, I'm not kidding!), a psychic (black woman with exaggerated afro, whose hand later mutates into a bizarre laser gun of sorts), a hand puppeteer (dead ringer for Brad Dourif, slightly normal character), and some guy (this one doesn't have much personality, but he receives an odd, disturbing lap dance that you have to see to believe). In the end, everyone dies, Funnyman escapes unscathed, and your mind is blown.
I honestly don't know how much I liked this film. I was definitely entertained for 90 minutes straight. I mean, I NEVER knew what was coming at me next. There's no point in me blabbering any further. Just do yourself a favor, and track this schizophrenic slab of lunacy down.
My rating-3.5/5

I own this movie and I thought that is was pretty cool. It messed with your head like John Carpenter's In The Mouth Of Madness.

If you have a taste for low-budget insanity, than Funnyman is definitely worth a rental (if you can locate it). Just don't expect to understand it in the slightest. I don't think it was meant to be comprehensible.
I remember watching Funnyman. I was laughing my ass off all through it. That guy who gets forced to snort too much cocaine and ends up in a trolley...LOL!. But seriously, don't watch this movie. Unless you like to watch crap.

What in the Hell?
I tell you, you only have once to make that first impression... and this film looks like it MUST and I mean MUST kick all sorts of acid tripping ass.
The Funnyman? Reminds me of Leprechaun and Rumplestilskin's love child. Yuck.

I rented this one ions ago, I kept falling asleep! It seemed a little too weird for me. It didnt feel like a horror film at all, but the character was creepy looking enough. Funnyman failed to keep my attention, perhaps I should seek this out and give it another shot! Hopefully, I wont fall asleep this time!!!

When was this movie made? I`ve never heard of it, but it certainly sounds interesting (and Christpher Lee is always cool).

At the time Christopher Lee said it was one of the most original scripts he's ever read .
He was'nt kidding !
There's nothing else like it . Yes it has its moments . It can be fun at times and weird most of the time .
Personally I think it's one of the worst horror films ever made in Britain . Maybe I should see it again with a few beers .
No ! make that a LOT of beers .

I saw this a long time ago, excellent film, mind you I am a big fan of Christopher Lee. As the Count states, it's a schizophrenic tale alright!!. Well worth a look.

That's the spirit! Funnyman is certainly "original," if nothing else. There's a few interviews on the DVD, and neither Lee nor director Simon Sprackling seem to realize that this is one whacked-out flick.

Funnyman is a great film. I remember watching it on sky years ago. I brought it round a to watch with a group of friends we were laughing all the way through we just couldn't stop at certain parts. I highly reccommend this to anybody. It may seem quite random in places but it is very funny.

The only thing I remembered that was cool about this movie was the end song.
"Funnyman the naughty Funnyman, he´s cheeky and he´s cruel"
sung by a childrens choir...

Count was this the US R rated version or the UK uncut version-in one of my older fangoria's it says alot of carnage was cut in the US version-but is left untouched in the UK.

It's the R-rated version. The cuts are obvious, but Funnyman isn't the type of film you watch for mutinous bloodshed.

I still want to see it-but i can't find it anywhere!! If someone can make me a copy-please pm me or email me-the movie looks fucked up!!!

have never seen this movie in a video store in the uk, saw it on channel 4 late one evening and it was certainly a gory little number. If it did get an uncut uk release it must have been on a very minor scale!!!!

saw this some time last year and was very disappointed, it has what could have been a fun plot, has some great sets as well but the acting is fucking terrible, it's so bad that i ended up turning it off after around an hour...the scenes with the Funny Man talking to the camera also irritated me

I'm sad to say I didn't like this. Started out fine but grew very tiresome by the end, in which I was begging it to end. Some of the humor worked and the gore was nice and I did find Funnyman to be a mildly amusing villain but the whole thing was mostly ho-hum. Started out as a short film, should have stayed that way.

Never heard of this - the jester looks pretty cool on the cover art.
But that usually doesn't mean much.

Well, it's certainly not a good movie. I only recommend it to people because of its uncanny weirdness. You might like it more after listening to the commentary track. The shoot was essentially a huge party.
