I'm pretty good at figuring out movies (I understood all of Memento the first time I watched it and people have told me that they had to watch it more than once), but I still had a hard time trying to figure out what the hell happened in Mullholland Drive (and the clues inside the dvd don't help much). I do understand it now since I looked it up though. But have you seen any movies that have made no sense at all to you?

Still haven't figured out MULHOLLAND DRIVE myself and Lynch's LOST HIGHWAY made even less sense, but then there's true beauty to be found in these mindfuck-movies.

Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway aren't that hard to figure out.
I myself can't think of any right now. But I'll be back.

Jacob's Ladder took a bit of thinking when I was younger.
I rented a movie called Tokyo Drifter a while back. Maybe it was something in the subtitle translation, but it made absolutely no sense. I mean, to give you an idea, there were two people who looked exactly the same, had the same name, but one was good and one was evil. Two Hours of this!

Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive didn't make any sense. I've seen just as many movies as the rest of you guys and understand the vast majority of them(i.e.-Memento, 2001, or anything else that could be mistaken as confusing or really deep). BUT...David Lynch movies are nothing more than a work of art. There's no deep meaning to be extracted from it. There's no life-altering effects of them. They are just simply there and fun to look at. I used to hate Lynch with all of my heart cause I wasted hours of my life watching that crap until it hit me. His movies are just fun. I know Lynchites are going to see this and crap themselves. I don't care. Save it. You're never going to convince me of the man's "genius". Or lack thereof. The man is simply insane. The End.
ps-I'm not ripping on Lynchites or fans or whatever you call yourselves. To each his own I guess.

Mullholland Dr confuses me (as it seems it does everyone else) I have a lot of it figured out in my mind (others may disagree with what I think is going on but eh) but there are still parts that I am struggling with a lot.
There are a lot of movies that make no sense to me though but usually in a bad way cos they are so god damn awful, e.g. Reign Of Fire, Attack Of The Clones etc.

MAGNOLIA AND VANILLA SKY were the two that I couldn't get into, and just didn't get. I tried to watch MD, and I have yet to watch LH. The soundtrack for LH is really good, however.

I have never been able to understand 2001: A Space odyssey.
I am starting to understand Mulholland Drive
2001: A Space Odessey...
The ONLY thing that made sense were the apes and how they figured out how to use a weapon.

The one movie that drove me nuts for a long time was In The Mouth Of Madness i just couldn't figure it out then I finally got a chance to watch it alone with no phine to ring and I got it. Another one that I got confused with was The Excorsit, I didn't understand the opening and what it had to do with the movie I kept on missing the part where you find out what is possesing the little girl.

Tim Burton's planet of the Apes. I spent hours twisting my brain into a pretzel trying to figure out how the ending could have been created based on the details from the film. I was also struggling to figure out whether they were supposed to be on Earth, or another planet all together.
Then I fell over in a burst of laughter, as I realized that Burton screwed us good. There IS no meaning to the film, and there IS no explanation for anything that happens.
Good one Tim!

American Psycho (also Cruel Intentions) is my favorite movie. But, to this day, even though I watch it twice a day (everyday), I still do not fully grasp or understand the movie. Can anyone clear it up for me?

Unfortunately it still doesn't make any sense, even if you understand the mechanics of the storm.

Pi was impossible to fully comprehend. I don't think it was ever intended to be understood though.
I couldn't even finish watching Kubrick's Odessey. I'm usually a patient viewer too.

Some of these movies are just your intrepitations on what has happened and don't need to explained.
Mulholland Drive
Vanilla Sky
Lost Highway (Although strange this movie does make sense)

Run Lola Run was pretty wierd for me.
It could be worse. A woman could cut off your penis while you're sleeping and toss it out the window of a moving car.

Solaris.....fortunatley my Russian co-worker explained it to me, and evidently I need to rent the Russian version.
Mullholland Drive. I own it, I like it...but still can't get there!
2001 Space Odyssy......bailed early on the rental. A sleeping pill.
These are all quite obvious, I'm afraid.

Ehhhhhhhhhh, wrong. Mulholland Dr. is about the american dream of Hollywood and how misleading it truly is. e-mail me, I can explain every single minute of it. Sorry to sound rude bud but making a statement like that is ridiculous when you've already read that other schmoes DO understand it.

Note ive only seen the workprint version which i heard was better than the theater one but is pretty much the same
-Alot of people keep saying he never really took those pictures of them doing the sexual acts yet later in the office 2 officers clearly look at the role, then another role is handed to an officer. So i dont get that whole thing.
-And why are the two back together again with Sai in the picture at the very end? Why are the two back together in general? Doesnt she know that he was cheating on her? She saw the pictures in the truck i thought, so how does everything just go back to normal after he comes home from the hotel??
-What is the symbolism of the horse ride when he looks at it? doesnt make any sense to me
The end still confuses me

I recently bought Mulholland Drive to watch it again. For the first time in my life when I watched it I sat their thinking what hell was I watching?
The bad thing is that their is no scene selection on the DVD so you have to watch it all the way through.
Good call on the remake of Planet Of The Apes, I couldn't figure that one out either...crap movie though.

Please tell me you absolutely loved Pi:Faith in Chaos even if it was a bit hard to comprehend. So a few strings are left untied. So what? The overall movie made complete sense to me, and the beauty is in the random-ness of scenes such as the "Brain Scene" in the subway station. i thought the entire movie was quite fantastic, the direction was AMAZiNG, and i loved the way it was filmed in black and white. This is one of my absolute favourite movies, and Daren Aronofsky is absolute genius. If you liked Pi, check out Aronofsky's other fabulous movie, Requiem for a Dream. Anyone know of any other Aronofsky movies? i would love to view.

"Maybe in your opinion but i liked it"
I don't understand why people like Bullethead. I'm shocked by how good its reviews are.
Can you explain what you liked about it? The only thing I thought was well-done was the performance by the main character - he was suprisingly good for a total unknown.
It had amazingly bad gunfights, some of the worst I have ever seen, a narrative that jumps all over the place, and one of the worst endings ever commited to film. It DEFINES artsy-fartsy.
When I say a movie was geniunely and totally bad, it's a pretty terrible thing - there are VERY few movies I do that to, I usually enjoy even terrible movies to some extent. Bullethead is the movie I regret renting the most in my entire life.
Deadbeat by Dawn, which I find myself for some reason thinking of when I think of Bullethead, is a vastly superior similarly low-budget straight-to-video type of revenge tale. With next to no money, this film still manages to have better fight scenes then 95% of Hollywood films. That's a flick I highly reccomend renting.

if anyone here doesn't get 2001, then i definatly suggest you watch 2010. My dad suggested 2001 to me b/c of how freaked he was when he saw it at almost at my age. So i watched it and was freaked/wigged out. But he gave me about 3 months just to let it settle in, and bought 2010 (the sequal to 2001) and everything makes sense. The point of the movie was to make 2001 make sense. It makes 2001 so much better too IMO.
