The year is damn near over with only 1 more release date left. With XXX being the biggest DVD that day. It'll be a nice package, I'm sure, but will not out due a ton of DVD's this year.

Nothing would even come near the great DVD collection that is the Extended version of LOTR. Everything was great about it the audio, picture, extras. I would go as far as saying this DVD is the Best that has ever been released to date.

My other pick would be:

Monsters INC.....If it wasn't for LOTR this would've gotten my top spot. Didn't care for the movie all too much, but the disc is something every fan or collector should have. In the audio and visual departments this is the best transpher to make it to a DVD.

I would definietly say LOTR yet I don't have the extended version. Though the picture quality and sound is simply amazing, I don't even remember it being that great in the theater, well maybe the sound only since I have a cheap tv stereo sound

Nobody's mentioned Reservoir Dogs - Mr. Pink Edition or Memento - Limited Edition? I can't believe it. These along with South Park - The Complete First Season are the best DVDs of the year.

Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong

Apart from the LOTR one, the best I bought this year is probably the 2009: Lost Memories LE. It's a Korean movie that gets a better DVD treatment than 99% of all Hollywood movies. Definitely worth the astronomical price I paid for it.

What else...
Pearl Harbor deal
Blade 2
Star Wars 2
Solaris CC
Traffic CC
I have a pretty kick ass Princess Blade DVD also, although I'm really not sure if it was released in 2001 or 2002.

I'll stop now, I could go on for a bit....
