Just Before Dawn - Jeff Lieberman, 1980

A very good backwoods slasher, very atmospheric and a very good use of the setting is made.
The acting is better than average and the teens look more realistic than usual, they are not affraid in the woods.
Sometimes very creepy and scary.
A must - see film but don't expect to see a Friday The 13th rip - off it is more than that.

I used to own a copy of this movie, i gave it away foolishly and now i regret it. George Kennedy is very convincing as the ranger, remember him from the Naked Gun series? The killings in this one are bloodless for the most part, except for the
initial machete in the chest. My rating: 9/10

I once read an interview with Lieberman where he said he wanted more of a Deliverence feel to this one than Friday the 13th. I think he suceeded. Cool movie.

Yeah this movie is great. It has that special early eighties grainy look to it which I love. Plus the lead heroine was totally likeable. As a matter of fact all the characters were good. George Kennedy has a somewhat small part but he does good when on the screen. The best part of the movie was the old abandoned church. That place was way creepy. Check this one out as well as Rituals as far as deliverance type movies go.

Great, underrated classic that ranks up there with other terrific, scary films set in the great outdoors: DELIVERANCE, FRIDAY THE 13TH (original only), JAWS, DEAD CALM, etc.

I bought this recently and it was pretty good. Really creepy in some parts. Just don't expect alot of gore or T&A because there is hardly any in the film.
