Since I'm relatively new here, I'm not sure what the general opinion on this early 80's slasher is...

I really like the film, I own it. I think it's a fun little horror flick, although it does try to be more sophisticated than is neccesary.

The lovely Lesleh Donaldson is in it and has one of the coolest death scenes I have ever witnessed. Samantha Eggar is very good as the lead as well.

So what do you all think?

I though this Just Before Dawn & The House on Soroity Row were the most underrated slasher movies of the early 80's. That old hag mask scared the shit out of me when I was young. Donaldson was actually in a couple pretty good horror flicks in the 80'(Happy Birthday to Me, Funeral Home). It is a bit complicated in parts but it does come through. Love that dream sequence.

I love this movie. That ice-skating stalking sequence was cool as hell. My only complaint is that all the girls (except the comedian) were interchangable. I would've liked to have seen a bit more character. But it's still one of my favorite slashers.

CURTAINS (1983) Directed by Jonathan Stryker. Six actresses are summoned to a famous director’s isolated mansion to compete for the lead role in his new film, “Audra”, and one-by-one, they are murdered (in stylishly gruesome manners) by someone wearing an old hag’s mask. John Vernon (“Animal House”) stars as the lecherous filmmaker, and Samantha Eggar (“The Collector”) shines in one of her best horror roles as a has-been actress who commits herself to an insane asylum to research the coveted role! Talk about method acting! Among the supporting cast of lovely ladies are several familiar faces: Linda Thorson (Diana Rigg’s replacement in “The Avengers” TV series) as a scheming Broadway actress; Sandee Currie (“Terror Train”) as a sexy musician; Lesleh Donaldson (“Happy Birthday To Me”) as an innocent ice-skating champion; and Lynne Griffin (“Black Christmas”) as a flaky comedian. Unknowns Deborah Burgess and Anne Ditchburn portray the remaining “Audra” hopefuls, while Michael Wincott and Maury Chaykin appear in cameos. The film really scores with its effective and scary murder sequences, a really cool killer costume and a terrifying chase through a deserted theater and prop house. The twist ending will leave you baffled! Production problems are evident throughout, but “Curtains” is still one of the better slasher efforts of the era. My grade: B

Yes, I agree "Curtains" rocks!! Much better than the teenybopper slashers they churn out nowadays.

That doll is f*cking creepy. Gives me the chills every time I watch it.
