I am a n00b here, and I used the search feature to see if what PF threads there have been, and I was shocked and kind of disgusted that there have not been one!

Now tell me, who here is down with Floyd? Personally, my favorite band, and I would put them up against anyone for best band ever (save the Beatles).

I'm down with Pink Floyd. They're not my favorite band, but they have songs that I really like, particularly from the Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall albums.

Big fan. Dark Side is one of the best albums ever, by anyone.

I'm a fan, but I like alot of the stuff that most people dont..

You'd be suprised with the looks I get when I tell people that The Final Cut is my favorite album.

I've never rated 'em...

Apparently they're all about "kicking back with a joint" and all that caper...!?

If you can't enjoy a band when you're clean and sober then it doesn't wash with me...and frankly, I think they're shit.

Harsh but true IMO.

I've never listened to Pink Floyd while stoned. That's not to say I never smoked, mind... I don't know about other people but I appreciate Floyd clean and sober. Pink Floyd is something I have to be in the mood for, though.

pink floyd have never done it for me,they have always seamed too arty and self indulgent, and i have always thought they were very overratted, but if they rock your boat then who am i to tell you its wrong.

Harsh but true IMO. I will respect your opinion, but I find that is a pretty bad stereotype of Pink Floyd which angers me.
I have never once drinked liquor or smoked or done any drugs for that matter. I am only 16, and I like their music for the experience it gives me.

But to each his own.

The idea that Pink Floyd (or ANY psychedelia, for that matter) has lasted so long is a little bit of a suprise..well, to me it is..The idea of making music thats MEANT for drug users is such a taboo today, that if it were released now people just wouldn't listen to it.

Fact is, Floyd lasted and so did its reputation. Its only fair to judge a band as they wanted to be judged...

I was simply saying that I don't personally rate "The Floyd"...;)
I did not stereotype the fans mate. It's common knowledge that Pink Floyd have in the past created music intended to enhance a drug-induced state...obviously not ALL their music, but a fair amount nonetheless.

Countless individual's have recommended that I should indulge myself whilst smoking the "waccy baccy"...but I don't buy that.

I don't like them...it's THAT simple...and mind-expanding drug's are not going to change my bloody opinion I'm afraid.

I don't disrespect YOUR opinion...I just don't agree with it luv!!!

Different strokes...that's my philosophy!!!

Not a huge fan, in fact I am really disappointed by Comfortably Numb after everyone adored it so much. Trust me, on several occasions I have thought "wow...this must be a great song...I judged it too harshly"...Not so. Just plain overrated.

Wish you were Here, though, is one of the best songs I have ever heard. It's quiet, it's calm and utterly perfect.

I do not like them very much...but when they do something right...wow. :)

Wish You Were Here is #3 on my "best albums ever made"-list... though I have to say that most of their stuff usually gets me down (but in a weird and wonderful way).

I too think they are the best band of all time, musically. There is not a single attempt of theirs I havent loved. It was a huge ordeal for them to continue to make such phenomenal music without Roger Waters who lent such an air of mystery to the lyrics , but arguably and oddly enough, it got better? Almost unheard of.

I've been listening to Pink Floyd for almost twenty years now, and they are simply beautiful and perfect to me.
I listen a lot to that last song on the 'Wish You Were Here' album, that instrumental piece, it's just so beautiful..

I've been to one of their concerts years ago, and although I stayed totally sober, it was the coolest trip I ever made. They really do something to your state of mind. The drug-relation is not that false.. Did you guys know that 'Atom Heart Mother' (1972 If I'm correct) was composed entirely on LSD? Those guys experimented a lot..

I saw them when I was 10 and needless to say I was too young to be drunk or stoned. To this day, my appreciation for them is on a pure rock level. "A momentary lapse of reason" is still my favourite.
