hey,

I totally agree with you about this movie. I so wanted to love it but the style just wasn't Aliens. The poor writing, and acting make the movie very bad. Keep up the good work bro, your reviews are getting better with each movie.

I agree whole heartedly. Alien 4 was unneeded and just didn't fit in.

I think alien resurection is a way lot better than the third one. I liked it but I have to agree that it's different than the other aliens.

It took me repeated viewings to appreciate Alien 3. See it on DVD...it looks great and maybe you'll appreciate it more too. As for Resurrection...the more I saw, the more I hated it. "puke"

My thoughts exactly. Although I don't think it lived up to the first two and by no means is a great film, I still thought resurrection was head and shoulders above the third one which is unwatchable. I agree with Arrow that 3 has an interesting look, but its all style and no substance.

No, I found Alien: Resurrection all style and no subtance. Alien 3 had subtance, and plot (a good one at that), but I agree we should have had more insight on all the characters. Most of them were all secondary and were just there to get killed but that was the only thing I hated. I loved the plot and even how it ended. I don't know why I loved the ending when I saw it when I was 7 but it made me think Ripley is finally done. She has ended the terror and died a hero.

Alien 3 had a horrible production history. A3 should've been better than it was, but i've grown to love and respect the film. Its like Arrow said its a mean spirted film, and killing off everyone except that one prisoner was pretty ballsy. Alien 4 tried to bring everything back that was good from Aliens, but the difference is Aliens had a good script. Now I've not dissing Joss Whedon, who is a very talented writer, but to me he just didn't seem know this franchise good enough like all of us. A4 is basically a POPCORN!!! film.
Man does that wound me to say that.

I'd probably give it **, but I agree with you: Christie was one mean son of a bitch.

Hey, did anyone else notice in "Resurrection", they re-used lines from the earlier films? Ex: "No offense." "None taken." I mean, hello, how LAZY is that? P.S. -- Arrow was right about "Final Fantasy", too. Can we say BOR-ING? I couldn`t wait for it to be over.

Obviously I'm the only one of my genreation that has patience for films. As long as it has a good storyline to keep me hooked, then I will love it (and acting helps as well). I mean, the Final Fantasy movie is really good. There's so much mor e than just action ang computer graphics. You have to remember there is also a weird storyline involved. It really bugs me with people today, they complain when they want more storyline and better acting over the action and gore. When they get a movie with a good storyline and good acting, they complain there is not enough action and go back to square one. Make up your minds already.

The problem with Final Fantasy, a film I mostly liked, is the fact that it has some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard.

Also, I think one of the reasons Americans might not like it is because it definitely has connections to the games: The Gaia vs. Gaia ending is straight out of Final Fantasy VII (too bad that's my least favorite game in the series...).

Whoa, whoa whoa. Don`t even try to tell me that I didn`t like "Final Fantasy" because I`m not patient, and the movie was TOO GOOD for my shallow tastes. Dude, it was GENERIC and BORING. Period. The characters? Carbon copies of characters from other movies, and they were all painfully one-note. For example, Neil (the one Steve Buscemi did the voice for) had exactly ONE personality trait: he`s sarcastic. That`s *IT*. And I`m supposed to be interested in these people? And how about the "tough female space marine" character? Gee, what an original touch - too bad EVERY single sci-fi/space flick since Cameron`s ALIENS has had a "Vasquez" character. Lame. How about the whole "one guy gets wounded and stays behind to sacrifice himself for the others" part. Once again, it`s been in EVERY sci-fi/space flick in the world since ALIENS. There was NOTHING original or even INTERESTING about "Final Fantasy".

Well said Elgyn, it takes more than spiritual jargon to give a film depth...it takes layered characters...None of 2 be found in Final Fantasy. Great graphics though.

Alien Resurection was a comic book film all around. I liked alot of things about it. What i didn't like about it was that they made aliens act like raptors from Jurassic Park, they didn't have a creepy vibe to. WHAT THE HELL WAS WITH THAT BRAIN PICKING SCENE!?!?!?!?!¿! absolutly unnecesary. The aliens hardly cocuned their prey. Christies ending~ /ubb/confused.gif, the newborn all together, the halfass cheese ending pissed me off. But it was alot easier to swallow than the mistakes that Alien 3 made.

Elgyn, I wasn't nessecarily stating it to you. I was staing it to impatient people, ok? I'm not insulting you or attaking you verbally. And besides, I love those classic cliches. They are just fun to watch. What can I say, I love the cliches. But some of them do get annoying like the guy who stays behind for no reason. If he's going to stay behind, he has to have a good prupose. And I admit, the movie did have some bad dialogue but it didn't ruin it for me. Ok, I like the Final Fantasy movie. And if that's how you feel, your intitled to your opinion. And I admit, I did sound a bit too harsh. Ok? But anyway, let's get back on topic because this is about Alien 4 review, not Final Fantasy. Plus, shouldn't this topic be in the past/general topic?

I hear there are plans for Alien 5. Also, Paul Anderson is set to write/direct Aliens VS Predator.

I found a neat little interview with James Cameron and here is what he thought of Alien Resurrection:

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2"> “It has some fun moments in it. It wasn't scary. I read an interview with the director the other day, and he made such an amazing comment: "I've never understood how someone can be afraid in a cinema." Hey, dude! Then don't do an Alien movie! What the hell was he thinkin'? But I admire the film visually, and I think Sigourney's awesome. It just wasn't scary, which sort of misses the point to me.” -- James Cameron</font>

I LOVE all the Alien Movies. #1-#4 all great films....I use to hate #3 but then I was like 7 when I saw it...now I watch it and I love it. I don't really care for the other characters even if they weren't layered and developed. There were to damn many characters anyways. I only cared about Ripley kicking ass and the black dude doing his pumping up speaches! The doctor was cool....to bad he died so early....I enjoyed him quiet a bit.

i agree with the way they ended the christie character. wtf, this guy was bad ass and he went out in a very dumb way. he was one of the only characters i liked and seemed like he was gunna make it to the end and be the leader of the rag tag group.

They should never have even thought of making
Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. Those 2 movies were a fucking disgrace. I hear they're going to make an Alien 5 (or so I heard.)

I hope Alien 5 never gets made. If it does, it will most likely suck ass as well.

ALIEN:RESSURECTION is a good movie. I'm not a die-hard fan of the Alien series, although I apreciate the first 3 movies and watch them when I got a chance (and nothing else to do). I've seen RESSURECTION numerous times and although widely hated by fans of the series, I can't help but think it's the most entertaining and most easy-going movie of the bunch.

First of all, the cast is topnotch: Where else do you get Ron Perlman, Wiona Ryder (and yes, I love her performance!), Brad Dourif and after all, Sigourney Weaver in one movie? Although there's no trace of his other, weirder films in RESSURECTION, Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a great director that knew how to hold his personal style back on this production. I'm glad that everybody is on his dick for AMELIE, he deserves his success! But good cast and good director alone don't make a good movie, so what is it that makes me like this flick?

It's not the well-thought out storyline, that's for sure. If something goes wrong, the ship goes straight to earth? Stupid Assholes! Christie's death? Yeah, sure it's a plot-hole? The characters are one-dimensional? They sure are. But hey, just because people are one-dimensional and you can tell that they are good/bad from miles away, it doesn't make them less entertaining! Ron Perlman's Joner is a stupid asshole for sure, but he's not an unsympathic asshole. "Just for the colour!" comes to mind. Christie? You wanna go fuck with Christie? Christie is the ultimate space rasta guy, I dig Christie, the guy just rules! "Does this belong to your biology-project doctor?" I love that line! Wiona Ryder? Say what you will, she's an android and she's making a confession in a church, on a spaceship! How cool is that? I fully understand that people who are more into the series than me loathe the idea of Riply being ressurected and yes, it's unneccessary but she sure kicks arse here! Quite a departure from the nihilistic, I'm-gonna-kill-myself-as-soon-as-I-find-the-time Riply she was in the third part. Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against the third part, but RESSURECTION has a more fun, uplifting tone. That's not to say it's as light and fun as...uh... STAR WARS, by far not! What about the clones gone batshit? If you want this series grossest moment, look no further! The Riply-Mother-Of-All-Aliens aspect? I wouldn't say it improves the film but it's kinda neat that she finally gets a relation to the creatures she blasted away for the last 3 parts. Hey, I don't say she should spare them but I'm sure they have a soul too! Okay, gotta move on.

ALIEN RESSURECTION for sure has it's flaws but I'm sure I would say the same about any of the other parts. It's sure not as horrible as some people make it (often, like Arrow die-hard fans of the first 3 parts) seem, I'd say that if you look for some above-average (in terms of guts and brains) spaceship-action you should look no further.
7/10

God bless Christie's dreadlocks!

Michael Wincott was the best thing about this movie.

Not bad, but nothing compared to 1-3.

I hated RESSURECTION becuase they changed too much.
For example the xenomorphs have 4 fingers, and Weilandf Yutani is now United Systems Military. Plus the film doesn't have the look and feel of the previous 3 flicks, mostly due to cgi aliens. On top of that I cared for no one except for Ripley, Elgyn and Christie.

As for ALIEN3, it is very misunderstood, you can tell it was a great film picked apart by the studio. I am dying to see the director's cut of that one.
