I just won one of my favorite slasher films, Skinner, off of eBay and I received it today. When I saw on the back of the box that it was rated R, I began to panic. I popped it in and skipped immediately to the goriest scene in the movie and yes, it's cut severely. I'm so very disappointed and pissed off!!! Does anyone know if the unrated version was ever released to DVD??

No idea, but the same thing happened to me with another film I used to own on vhs: EVIL ED. I picked it up on DVD from a small shop downtown...much to my dismay, it was a SEVERELY cut version of the film...absolutely horrendous. I took it back and the goddamned store wouldn't give me my cash back...just a coupon for what I payed. I'm STILL trying to find something at that shitty store to use the voucher on...bastards.

Skinner is a mid-90s low-budget slasher flick about a guy who likes to skin hookers (and basically anyone else that gets in his way) and wears their skin as clothing. The really disturbing thing is that when he wears their skin, he takes on their personality as well. I love this one, I thought it was really well done and acted for a low budget flick. And there is a really delicious skinning scene toward the middle (which was, of course, cut to pieces on the DVD I just got). Oh, and to answer your question, Traci and Ricki are indeed apart of the cast.

Man... I'd love to go on the Ricki Lake show, just to stand up in the audience and ask her about the movie in front of everybody. Maybe I'm wrong, but she seems like the kind of person who would try to pretend she was never in a movie like that.

ME TOO!!! I swear, I ALWAYS used to think of that! I'd be in the audience, raise my hand like I had a question for the guests, then whisper in her ear "I loved you in 'Skinner'..." ;)

if you whispered it,she'd probably think you said you look skinnier and she would hug you,so just scream out the question "how was it on the set of the film skinner?" and have her face drop to the floor and, commercial break :)

-It pokes fun at horror movies and makes numerous references and homages to other well-known films.
-The director is OBVIOUSLY influenced by Peter Jackson.
-It's gory and over-the-top and completely ridiculous (much like a Peter Jackson film!)

Anyhow, I suggest that people avoid this film like the plague UNLESS you can find the uncut version (don't know if it's on DVD anywhere else in the world uncut.)

About Skinner, though...isn't that with Ted Raimi, too? Or am I thinking of something else???

I saw a trailer for Skinner once. It seemed fun in a raunchy, gratuitous way. Does Lords shed her clothing?????

Um....ooooookay to get BACK on the subject, yes Skinner was on DVD and if you search the mall-store Suncoast Pictures you can get it for under $15. I pass by every now and then and get the urge to pick it up but I never do. It is ,without hesitation, Ted Raimi at his sexiest. *gets the shakes* Scuse me, I have to be alone now.

But like I said, the DVD is severely trimmed, with about 3 1/2 minutes cut.

I know, I should have. But he didn't mention a rating in his plot synopsis, so I just assumed the disc was unrated. Oh, well. I still have my unrated VHS.
