Have you ever watched a horror movie that had one or two scenes that really kicked ass but the movie sucked big time......it makes you kinda of sad to say that you hate that movie just cause you love a certain scene so much...... A movie that comes to mind is Scanners, i love when the dudes head explodes, it looks so awesome but the movie was just soooo boring, good effects, another one is The Thing, now i know there is alot of fans out there, but to me the only good part was the dog scene, the rest was just blah, maybe it was the all male cast or the location, but i just oculdn't get into it, ut i really like that dog scene..............do any of you shmoes know a movie like this......

Good call on Scanners. A few scenes really stood out, but the pace was lifeless and none of the characters were the least bit likeable. A few others...
Children of the Corn (the opening sequence)
Carnival of Souls (death dance)
Halloween 5 (laundry chute)

if you count Signs as horror, i hated the movie but loved the scene with Ray in the truck.

Student Bodies (comedy). The bit at the beginning that's like Scream where the mum comes into the house after the babysitter has been killed, and it cuts to the outside of the house and we hear her scream. Cut to inside and she's saying "Look at the sink!!! That damn babysitter hasn't done the dishes" etc... The only funny joke in the whole damn film.

HeHe, Horsehead Bookends.
Sitting through mediocre film can lead to the most startling revelations.
The "We LOVE pre-marital sex!" scene in JASON X, along with Kay-Em's destruction of the big bad. At least the writers didn't make all together terrible dreck.
F 13 4: FINAL FRIDAY - Jimbo gets his groove on to a heavy metal tune, giving the world the geek dance. Corey F. slaughters a mighty pissed off Jason. Teddy Bear watches stagnating pornos.
F13 5: A NEW BEGINNING - Violet's robot dance, Demon's death: "Ooooh baby indeed."
THE UNHOLY - Appearances by William Russ as Luke, the satanic bar owner. He lights up the scenes he's in. The "beast" licks Father Michael. On his leg no less. The rest is purely sophmoric.
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 3 - Mindy tries on her new piercings. Priceless.

This isn't horror, but "The Matrix" had great action scenes, but the movie itself was quite boring.

another one is An american werewolf in London, just checked it out last night for the first time, and i htouhgt the transformation scenes and the car wrecks were the only cool parts in this stinker, i mean the comedy was just retarted and the make-up(well thank god for Rick Baker) was the only thing that saved it. His transformation scene saved this from being ejected from my dvd player and as for the car wrecks well they were decent, but the attacks were all off camera and really silly looking, it looked like a stuffed animal attacking a puddle of fake blood. anyways, some cool scenes but bad movie......

The scene in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers in which a Kara watches her brother's girlfriend across the street in a telescope and talks to her on the phone and tells her "someone's in the room!" I thought that was a pretty cool sequence and imaginative for a sixth entry in a series.
They made this scene look pretty slick in the trailer, but it could have been done so much better. I would have liked to have seen it drawn out and the girlfriend try to defend herself. Still, it's about the only good scene in the entire pile of crap that is Halloween 6. (I hope I got the names and characters right, I haven't watched this turd in a long, long time).

13th ghosts has some really cool scenes but not enough to save it. The cool ghost hunt opening and some of the gore and ghost scenes are the only good things in the movie.

Hellmaster had a GREAT scene which reminded me of Evil Dead, in which David Emge looks down this hall and it looks as though the camera man is running straight at this mutant standing wayy far away..

Just one thing to add to the Student Bodies discussion....
"Melbert pee red."
Jesus, I haven't seen that movie in about 15 years. Horror satire before it became "fashionable". Or profitable.

Anyone familiar with Anguish? Like April Fool's Day and There's Nothing Out There, it's an '80s movie that was ahead of its time - a pre-Scream, self-aware horror flick that's been overlooked too long.
Anguish is not anywhere close to being successful, but it's got some pretty creative visuals and some neat twists. Unfortunately, these merits don't compensate for its sloppy narrative and weak acting.
Still, it's worth a look.

p.s. Excellent props in this thread for Student Bodies!
