This is a true guilty pleasure of mine. I mean I know alot of the film is cheesy but the last half hour is very good and you know you could not guess who the killer was. . atleast I couldnt haha. And the final scene s very poignant to me.
SPOILERS<---

how jamie realizes it was her brother, her eyes-his eyes, its very sad.

So any thoughts on this flick?

It was ok but I don't think Jamie Lee gave it her all.

Yeah but her fun dance scenes made up for it. LOL

I've posted several reviews, topics and raves about this slasher, my absolute sentimental favorite of all-time.

So I vote for classic status.

Not trash, not classic but some where in between. I have to see this flick again, because I'm not 100% sure of my opinions... I was pretty bored while watching it, but when thinking back about it, I remember some kick ass scenes, and a great begining and ending. The rating started at 3/10, but has moved up to 6/10. I'll have to see it again, and see just where I stand about Prom Night.

Well, well, well, DeV-N-HALLOWEEN's got it goin' on! I totally agree with you about the PROM NIGHT killer not wanting to hurt JLC. I love the way he pushes her out of the way when she attempts to prevent him from axing Nick to death!

I like it a lot. This film is not afraid to be subdued and even gentle despite its gory moments. I think Leslie Nielsen is a fine dramatic actor capable of doing Shakespeare just as he does parodies.

Actually I thought it was an average slasher from the 80's a few cool parts(the beheading, the reveling of the killer), but just an average 80's slasher. If there was no Jamie Lee in it then it would of probably faded out of existance by now.

It was an ok slasher flick. It moved kinda slowly before picking up the suspense near the end. I didn't guess who the killer was either before the sad ending.

I love Prom Night.

It combines two of my favorite elements - Horror and Disco!!

Jamie Lee, a slasher, and a disco themed prom. What more do you need??

It's truly a guilty pleasure...
definately a classic.

Exactly what I was gonna say Cush!
I'm a sucker for cheesy slasher flicks, and this is one of the better ones.

Classic! It's got Jamie Lee Curtis, a guy cutting off heads, disco.... what more could you ask for??

Actually, my copy of Prom Night is incredibly dark in places. So much so, that at some points, I can't see what's happening. I don't own it on DVD yet, so maybe when I pick that up, I'll get a better quality version!

its definetly a classic with a name like prom night it have to be also its got one of the best chase scenes ive ever seen in a horror movie ( minor spoilers) but all the rest of the characters were subjected to quick kills to bad but its still very good

I wouldn't usually say this cause for the most part I am againest remakes, (The TCM is ridiculous to me) but wouldnt you think if they pulled it off right that prom night could be remade and be a big hit, every time I mention the movie people are like "I wanna see that cuz I am going to prom soon" lol the title alone is attractive, I dont know..maybe I'm wrong but if they did remake it they better have a Jamie Lee Curtis cameo http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

MY IDEA FOR A "PROM NIGHT" SEQUEL:
Set 22 years after the original film, Jamie Lee Curtis' Kim character is now divorced from Nick (she forgave him for his role in her sister's death and married him after high school), and their teen daughter Robin (named after the afore-mentioned deceased sister) and her boyfriend are attending the title event (at Kim's alma mater, Alexander Hamilton Senior High). Kim's father (Leslie Nielsen) is a retired principal (now a fisherman), and her mother (Antoinette Bower) is a catatonic recluse at the local insane asylum (after losing all of her marbles after son Alex's death in the original film). Vicki and Drew (Pita Oliver and Jeff Wincott), who were last seen clinging to each another in one of the original film's final shots, are now married and/or divorced, and their daughter is Robin's rival. A murder spree occurs during the prom (name your motive: revenge, jealousy, post-traumantic stress disorder...they've all been done to death)! I doubt if JLC will return to her horror roots after HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION. She also announced plans to retire from acting during her 40's. She is presently 43.

that sounds like a dumb sequel..not a remake. and jamie lee will slow down acting, she already has but i dont think she plans to completely stop..and if she does..she'll still be in the spotlight

Actually that sounds like a pretty good sequel. I think a remake is horrible idea considering the Dawsons creek style cast that would probably be hired. However i have heard rumors that they are going to do a remake. Hollywood really sucks!

ok if the sequel idea is cool...it would never happen...well jamie lee would have to be replaced
