Anyone else out there huge fans of The Car starring James Brolin ?
I love it .It's much better than Christine and certainly has a cooler looking vehicle .
I first saw it at the cinema with Day Of The Animals ( another 70s gem ) and recently bought the DVD.

I love THE CAR, just bought it on DVD a few weeks back, in fact. The cemetary scene, the "car comes crashing right on through the frigging house scene"...oh yeah, this is good cheese. Creepy despite itself.
I don't agree that it's better than CHRISTINE, however. I always found that to be a very underrated little flick. Sure it's got it's flaws, but the overall mood of teen angst (which is really what this movie is about, after all) hits the nail on the head. People complain that Arnie's transformation from geek to cool greasy guy happens too quickly, and that Keith Gordon's performance is melodramatic...and I say these people don't remember high school. Carpenter's score is excellent as usual, Roberts Blossom should've gotten a best supporting actor nomination, and that scene where Arnie first sees the damage done to his beloved is farking great, powerful stuff.
