THIS WEEKS NEW MOVIES ON VHS/DVD:

THE BOURNE IDENTITY
TADPOLE
SIMONE
24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE
HARRISON'S FLOWERS
WORLD TRAVELER
101 DALMATIONS 2
PYTHON 2

I didn't think The Bourne Identity looked that great, but everyone seems to have enjoyed it so I "might" check it out sometime.

Tadpole looks really good and funny, plus I've heard mostly good things about it, so I will definitely be checking it out.

Simone looked alright, but it wasn't something I wanted to see in theaters, so I'll check it out now that it's on video.

I'm iffy about World Traveler. The trailer started out decent, but then it lost my interest. But since I love Julianne Moore, I might check it out sometime.

The first Python was incredibly cheesy, yet still entertaining. I missed the sequel when it was on TV so I'll probably rent it sometime when there's nothing better to rent. It could be an alright time.

WHAT WILL YOU RENT/BUY?

Finally, a good week for rentals!

I want to see:

Bourne Identity
24 Hour Party People
Simone
World Traveller (Billy Crudup, yum)

And I saw Tadpole already in theaters, but I'd like to see it again.

The Bourne Identity and Simone were good movies when I saw them. I might rent or buy either, since Pacino proved he's good at comedy and Damon as an action star. And BTW Horror Whore, Simone isn't that bad, a lot better than Tadpole I might add IMO

I've got 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE, DINNER RUSH, and ORDINARY DECENT CRIMINAL at the top of my Netflix rental list. My store isn't getting anything I haven't already seen, so I might check out THE BOURNE IDENTITY and the criminally-underrated SIMONE again.

Bourne Identity, a fun & daring Matt Damon flick that also has Franka Potente (Run Lola Run). I really enjoyed it when I saw it in the theatres last year. Look foward to checking it out again. 8/10

Another film, I really enjoyed & saw twice was Simone! Too bad the movie did'nt pull enough clout at the box office. Al Pacino's character is top notch trying to pretend that he has found America's new star, and welll ya know the rest. Hilarious performances by Catherine Keener,Evan Rachael Wood(who plays Pacino's Daughter),Jay Mohr & last but not least Winona Ryder. 8/10

The Bourne Identity is the only one I'll be renting. All the other look like piles of shite.

I will definatly rent HARRISON'S FLOWERS. I saw it in the theatre and had to go to the bathroom on the best part, supposedly the whole neighborhood blew up, and it was awesome, so I have to see that. The film was great itself, about a group of photographers looking for the lady's husband who was taken into the war and was injured or something. They thought he was dead, and now they have to find him. Great film 8/10.

Bourne Identity - I will buy.

Tadpole - Saw it once, and that will be all, although it was a great film.

Simone - I will pass
24 Hour party people - hmmm.... neh.
World Traveler - ehh.
101 dalmations 2 - nope

THE BOURNE IDENTITY - 7.5/10 - I will be buying this one definetely. It was a very good action thriller.

SIMONE - 7.5/10 - I might buy this if I have some extra cash, I liked it a lot in theaters, but it was kind of one of those movies you wouldn't want to watch more than once.

TADPOLE - I will definetely be checking this out. I've heard good things about it and that sparked my interest.

HARRISON'S FLOWERS - I don't know, didn't this come out in theaters like two years ago or something. I remember it very vaguely.

24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE - No.

101 DALMATIONS 2 - What the fuck?!?! Does Disney have to make a damn sequel to every Disney movie ever made. Most of them are shit, and this one is gonna follow suit. What is wrong with them?????

THE BOURNE IDENTITY - begins strongly, but then I lost interest, once the characters stopped developing and the whole conspiracy behind it became tiresome. Too bad, it had some great set-pieces and Matt Damon is a fine action man.

TADPOLE - only read bad reviews about this THE GRADUATE-wannabe. Maybe will check it out just because I think Sigourney Weaver is hot. Yeah, I DO! Sue me!

SIMONE - Like Andrew Niccol's previous directorial effort GATTACA this really had potential, but becomes tiresome and self-indulgently artsy-fartsy without making more than one point: Hollywood filmmaking sucks!

24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE - Brilliant start and I was in for the ride the first 15 minutes, but then I realised I don't know SHIT about any of these musicians and their significance in history, so the episodic, insider-narrative didn't enlighten me much, so I forwarded it to the end. My fault, Tony Wilson was a delight.

HARRISON'S FLOWERS - Huh?

WORLD TRAVELER - Never heard of it, but good cast. Might check it out.

101 DALMATIONS 2 - Don't have time for this sh...

PYTHON 2 - WTF?

Before you see this weeks new movies, I'd recommend checking out About A Boy. Definitely put it at the top of your list. Also, I take it you still haven't checked out Kissing Jessica Stein yet, so definitely consider giving it a shot. I recommend everyone see Kissing Jessica Stein before making you picks for The Golden Schmoes ;). I'm still hoping to see Minority Report before them, especially since I need something to put in the sci-fi category. Hopefully, I'll be renting it tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy them! I'd like to get around to renting Minority Report sometime today because I still haven't seen it. I'd like to see the ones on video that I haven't seen yet before tomorrow, when the nomination process for The Golden Schmoes begins.

I think you'll love About A Boy, I really can't imagine someone not liking it. And definitely get to Kissing Jessica Stein as soon as you get the chance. If the Oscars are going to screw it over, then I want to make sure that The Golden Schmoes doesn't, especially for "Best Screenplay" because it definitely deserves that.

The Bourne Identity (8/10) is currently on my Top 10 of 2002 List and an awesome flick, but I've seen it twice in theaters so I don't want to see it again.

Simone (6/10) had some very funny moments, but it was too slow, too long, and there was too much emphasis on the love story between Pacino and Keener, so it turned out to not be as good as I was hoping.

I would somewhat like to see 24 Hour Party People, and wouldn't mind renting (or buying) About A Boy on DVD.

Oops, I forgot a movie that's coming out this week:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00007ELDC.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

This is from Amazon:

Editorial Reviews (Amazon.com)

A teen horror flick that's a step above its peers, Wishcraft fuses a slasher movie with a "be careful what you wish for" story line. Bret (Michael Weston), a smart but unsociable high school kid, receives a strange box in the mail. A note tells him the contents will give him three wishes; naturally, he wishes for a date with a cheerleader (Alexandra Holden) he has a crush on. His wish comes true--but just as his new life is beginning, someone is murdering the popular kids in strange, inventive ways. Wishcraft isn't novel or surprising, but what's unusual is how well written, smartly directed, and solidly acted the movie is. The dialogue sounds genuine; the characters have more than one dimension; clichés are kept to a minimum. It won't win any awards, but if all B movies were this good, we'd be living in a much more entertaining world. --Bret Fetzer

Sounds good to me! I really want to see this now, I wasn't even aware what it was or that it was coming out this week.

Today I rented:

Wishcraft
Tadpole
Simone
The Bourne Identity

I was going to rent Minority Report too but I decided to put it back. I already had enough movies and I'd never be able to get them all watched, plus Minority Report is over 2 hrs. and 20 minutes long. I'll get it another time. I watched Wishcraft right away when I got home and I liked it. It is a good looking movie that doesn't even look STV. I found it to be a pretty entertaining, well directed, and well acted slasher flick. Basically it's not much different than the ones that get released in theaters. I'd give it a 7/10 (B-)...

I've watched all of the ones I rented so far except The Bourne Identity, which I will watch in about an hour or so. All I have to say is that I fucking loved Tadpole. It was so witty and well written. A fun and clever comedy. Very enjoyable! But it's a little controversial and I think it might piss some people off, touchy subjects seem to have that effect. Imagine if it would have been a movie about a 15 yr. old girl that had sex with a 40 yr. old man------it NEVER would have been released. Of course for some reason the thought of a 15 yr. old boy and a 40 yr. old woman just seems less wrong, especially when the 15 yr. old boy acts like he's 40. Anyway, it gets an 8/10 (A-) from me. My only complaint is that it was too short, I wanted more.

Simone was pretty good, but it's not a movie that you'd want to watch more than once, at least for me it isn't. Otherwise, pretty good flick. Although it had the opposite problem of Tadpole, it was a little too long. Oh well, it still gets a 7/10 (B-) from me.

I just gone done watching The Bourne Identity a little bit ago and I liked it. It was a fun and entertaining action movie. Damon and Potente were good together. I'd give it a 7/10 (B). It was better than I was expecting.

I want to see Tadpole it sounds like it will be a good dark comedy. I also plan on checking out 24 Hour Party People, it got great reviews and I think it looks pretty good. I saw The Bourne Identity and it was a good action film I give it an 8/10 and will probably be renting it some time.
